my DD woke up this morning very out of sorts. Gave her some panodol but she has got worse today about 4pm she fell asleep on me. She has been very lethargic since then and has a deep hacking cough and fever of 39c she even went to bed with no fighting should I do something or not
is she asleep now or awake?
Maybe she has a throat infection, possible ear infection as theyre all linked. Can you get her temperature down to get the fever down? Nurophen is always good too. If so, id be making a appointment first thing tomorrow with the doctor. Hope shes ok.
She just woke up crying and the cough is worse she had another dose of panodol about 2 1/2 hours ago
Can you call Nurse on Call?? They are my life savers when I'm not sure what to do? Hope shes better soon poor darling:(
If she still has the fever, i would give another dose of panadol now. You can double dose panadol, then single dose every dose after that.

Be guided by your instincts. Is she having any trouble drinking? Any breathing difficulty? If she is, you should take her to your GP of they are available, or otherwise your local hospital to be checked out.

Sorry, but that's just what I was told by my doctor when my daughter was getting fevers due to ear infections :/
It's not really very good advice, unfortunately. Sometimes, we do double doses as a premed for an anaesthetic, but it's very infrequent. I wouldn't advise doing it at home.
I ended up having to sleep in her bed as she was so restless last light but she seems fine now just a small cough now. But im very tired as she tossed and turned all night
Good to hear her cough has settled... but would prob still take a trip to the doctor just incase.. these things seem to flare up of a evening.

A better solution than double dosing on panadol at home (Something I would also never advocate and your GP should get the wagging finger my boss loves to use!) is panadol and neurofen combined. They are SAFE to give together and will provide a longer and lasting pain relief if given at the same time. Just make sure you follow the instructions on the packet.
Fever can be caused by pain so if you can eliminate or reduce pain, you should reduce the fever.
Don't be afraid to try more conservative methods for fever control; cool flannel to forehead, back of neck, back of knees, groin. Stripping down to nappy/undies.

Sorry to hijack- so u can give 1 dose of panadol-immediately followed by a dose of nurofen?

Yes. You draw up one dose of panadol in one medicine cup or syringe and the neurofen in another. Give one then give the other. Because neurofen is 6 hourly doses you can then repeat this in 6 hours if required.
