It's when you sew 2 lines of stitches about 1 cm apart and then hold the thread of the top line firm and use the second thread to pull and gather the fabric. It's meant to be safer than using one line in case the thread breaks as you pull it. Lots of euro patterns use this method. Good luck!!!
I think i get it (man I am so dumb with this sort of thing)
I sew 2 long line stitched lines top and bottom and then pull one of the lines so that the fabric gathers???

Oh yeah what Limey said! Forgot that very important bit and have pulled it all the way through before! It's ok, some stuff is worded so oddly like the Ottobre stuff and once you do it you go, ooohhhh duh NOW I know what they mean and you do it your way!!!!!
I think you do a double gathering stitch so as it gives a more generous gather, and it's less likely to break than one thread.
