30th birthday wording on invitation...meal costs

Hey there
Finally figured out my birthday plans, booked the room, got the outfit, music planned etc
Now i'm doing the invites and need help!
No matter what people want to say about it being rude and tacky and whatever else, i'm asking guests to purchase their own meals and drinks.
I'll have a few bottles of wine on each table, but how do i word it that i would like people to pay their own meals?
I basically want to say that i don't want gifts, just their company and for them to pay for their meals/drink
I'm having about 40 people, but they are close friends who really shouldn't get offended by this (I hope!)
Whats a simple, polite way to word this?

On the invitations include the words "Dutch Treat." This means that everybody is expected to pay their own way. Add the menu, with the menu included, this should be quite obvious to everybody who is attending.

Maybe something like "We look forward to your company - please, no gifts as this is a self-catered event - see attached menu for prices"?

I did this for my bday... We put "set menu cost $35 per head".
