Finger painting
Wasn't sure if this is the right section for this so mods please move in need be.
I was wondering where you get your paint from for finger painting? Or if just any water based paint is 'ok'
I want to take prints of DS's hands and feet and then stick stuff on the paper like what you do in scrap booking and then add some photos of the grandparents and give it to them for christmas in a frame.
Any other ideas or suggestions would be great :)

I found a non-toxic kids paint in Lincraft that I used for DD. Worked a treat and came out of her clothes too. It wasn't specifically for finger painting - I'm sure if you go to spotlight or lincraft, they'll show you what to use.

I got some finger paints from spotlight! Non-toxic and washable :) HTH
-
bummer, I was just near spotlight yesterday, wish I'd thought of going there as it's about 30 mins drive away. For some reason I thought I would be able to get it at Big W. I might check there tomorrow :)

i got a pack of four different colors from Big W the other day - specifically tagged as finger paint. non-toxic, water washed it out, and apparently has a bitter taste so they dont' eat it - E got a little bit in her mouth and pulled faces and that was it. she had a ball painting on Sunday!

OOO thanks for the thread. I wanted to get DD finger paints. Briggsy's girl, I think I need that one because DD eats her crayons
-
they had simple primary type colors and a sponge or two, and then flouro colors - we got both sets. not cheap cheap but not too exxy really
-
Wonderful! BW it is then :) will trundle in tomorrow and get some woohooo I love making stuff!
-
reject shop has packs of canvases pretty cheap if you are wanting to do something like that too!
awesome idea for one of a kind presents lol
-
crayola make some as well I think.
I must be a bit slack but I just used acrylic paint when they were little for footprints. I had hold of their limb for fear of smearing anyway so I went onto the paper and straight onto a wet facewasher :dunno:, so in a pinch.....

Briggsy' girl thanks so much! I am totally going to do them on canvas, much better idea :D I have to go to the reject shop anyway to get some scrap booking type stick on thingos anyway woohooo so excited now! This morning I'm deciding what pics to put on them.
Kim I also have some of the same fear especially with the hands and they are heading straight for DS's mouth these days lol so it'll be a joint effort with dh for sure!

Use a kitchen sponge (you can get multiple in a pack really cheap), pop the paint on it, if you have to much paint, just flip it over. Another really effective idea is to put a few different colours on your sponge, so you get a rainbow effect when you do your print. (feet are much easier then hands as well - they tend to make a fist rather then hold their fingers out straight)

good idea mollycat. I have just gotten home from th shops and I have the paint and the canvas's YAY :leap: will be some much fun! I think I will use that sponge idea for the backgrounds then get DS's hands and feet involved and then stick the photos on :)
