Anyone got a potty-chair - is it easier for your LO to get on?

DD is only 19 months but is showing surprising interest in TT. She is holding on for a couple of hours at a time and then taking herself to the potty for both wee and poo and we've had minimal accidents so far, as long as I'm there to help. The biggest problem is that as she's so little, she has trouble getting herself on to the potty and if left to try herself, frequently sits down on the pointy bit (OWWW!) or next to it. Accidents have largely occurred because I've been too slow to come over and help her on, and if she could do it herself, I think we might be onto a winner!

ATM we've just got a very simple little potty and someone suggested that it might be easier for her to use one of those ones that's shaped like a chair. Has anyone used one of these? Is it worth the money? Was it actually easier in any way than the 'reverse and squat' required to use a 'normal' potty?

Yes, we've got one, and she prefers it to our other potty which sounds like the one you have. In fact I have put the other one away as she refuses to use that one at all.
She is obviously a fair bit older than your DD but has been easily able to sit on that potty for a very long time and was (until recently but that is a whole other :wall:) quite capable of using it independently.

You mean the ones that turn into like a foot stool as well when not used as a potty? The Dora or Thomas ones? We have the Dora one here, DS picked it out himself when he was toilet training.

DD1 still won't sit on it, but she's beginning to not scream whilst on the toilet so thats a start..

We have a genericTeddy bear looking one, got if from Baby Bunting. It's great as it's low to the ground and they can maouver themselves easy onto it.

Ours is a Fisher Price one which plays music when they wee on it - I had to turn that off, it drove me batty and once she realised how it worked she would just wet her hands or feet and touch the sensor to make it play. Clever but a distraction from the task at hand! There are lots out there, try Target or baby warehouse.
