Warning: Rolling babies and powercords don't mix

A reminder that you have to be so vigilant with little kids.

I was sitting on the couch and my 8 month old rolling machine was playing on the floor. She went around the end of the couch and then around the back. I couldn't see her but was listening to her talk to herself.

I had a dressmakers dummy out at the end of the couch and saw it start to wobble. I jumped up to catch it as it slowly fell across bub. I caught it before it hit her and stood it up again, and then noticed that she had been rolling across the vaccuum cleaner power cord and it was wrapped around her body and once across her neck.

I quickly loosened the cord and released the bub. Thankfully, she was fine but it could have been nasty. If she had just rolled once more, or i hadn't noticed that she was caught up.....

As the power cord was attached to vaccuum and plugged into wall high up it was quite tight around her body, and she got stuck like that in just a minute or two.

big hugs babe :hug: it totally rattles you when that stuff happens...which it does from time to time (so dont be too hard on yourself...nice glass of wine to cool off tonight lol!)

It is so scary when it happens - I often don't realise how dangerous normal everyday object can be until we have a near miss. The worst one was with DD1 when she was 18 months old with a bean bag. She was playing on it and I was watching her, I turned around for a couple of seconds and turned back to find her head first in the bean bag and unable to get out. I pulled her out and she gasped for air. It was scary. I felt so silly for not thinking that a bean bag could be dangerous even for an 18 month old being supervised. Our bean bags have been put where our kids can't get to them at all now.
