Do you keep cards?
Like Christening cards, birthday cards, etc.
I have all the card for our wedding, still in a bag that I've been meaning to stick into a book or something to keep but still haven't. Now I have all the cards from DD's birth, christening, and first birthday. All floating around unorganised too
I am getting rid of all the useless junk stored in the cupboards at the moment, it's just sitting there stressing me out!! lol. Got to get rid of it before the baby comes! Now I was just about to sort out these cards and stick them in a book for DD or something and then thought......really? Do I really need to do that? Does DD really care? I have enough photos she can look at every minute of her life already, lol. Will she really be interested in reading a heap of old cards from lots of people she probably won't even know then? And then I'll just have to cart them around of the rest of my life! But I can be a bit of a sentimental hoarder... so I'm still thinking about it.
So, what about you? Do you keep stuff like that or chuck it? I know my mum has cards from my 1st birthday, I've looked at them once I think but I don't really care, lol.

My mum kept all my birthday cards (and christening cards) for the first 10 years or something of my life, so I'm doing the same for my kids. They each have a scrapbook and all the cards are in there - I have to update it, but most of them are in their place.
I don't keep xmas cards any more, just too many cards to keep! LOL
-
I have kept our engagement, wedding, DD's birth and christening cards. I will probably keep her first birthday cards too, but that's it! I don't keep general birthday or xmas cards. Like you, I am a bit of a sentimental hoarder, and it drives DH mad...hehe :)

my mum kept all my cards and i actually enjoyed looking back and reading over them!
So i have been keeping all ours and the girls cards also! and putting them in scrap books!
-
I keep our Christmas cards with the photo book for that year.
I have only kept a few special cards of my own which are in a box of keepsakes in my wardrobe.
I have kept all the baby shower, birth, birthday cards etc for DD & DS. They are stored in ziplock bags according to year & event in a box (1 box each) in their wardrobes along with other keepsakes
-
I have every card I have ever received! Even the cards my parents got when I was born. I sometimes look at them and I could never throw them out, I'm a sentimental fool :D
I think there is a place that will bind your cards for you into a book, I've seen it online.
I keep xmas cards for when Moo is older and we can do something crafty with them, I'm not attached to them for some reason.
-
You are not helping me!!
LOL
-
I keep the previous year's xmas cards, all the cards we got when DD was born and first birthday. I don't like clutter. All of the cards are kept in the empty chocolate box DP got me for my first mother's day (I was in hospital and the food was gross!)
-
I kept a lot of my cards when I was younger. One day I went through them and it was nice to see. But then I thought - do I really need them? Will I look at them again? & Will I miss them if they're gone? The answer was no to all of them so out they went. & I haven't missed a single one lol!
I've only kept our wedding & engagement cards, DS birth & 1st birthday and a few special cards. They need sorting lol! I'm hoping to do that before my baby comes too. It won't happen though lol!
I keep christmas cards in my ribbon box until the following year for the sole purpose of reminding me who to send cards to (I'm too lazy to write a list). The list gets shorter each year because I only send cards to people who sent them to me the year before plus a few exceptions for special people like DH's pop. Most people seem to just send an SMS or FB msg nowadays.

I have kept the girls Congratuations on Birth cards and their first birthday cards, already organised in an albulm (along with their hospital cards and hospital bands :-) and their measurements from the M/W that she wrote on the ruler thingy)
Also kept engagement cards, 21st birthday cards...

Ive kept out wedding/engagement cards, all of the kids cards (birth, birthdays, naming days, Christmas etc). I dont bother keeping DH's and my birthday cards, unless they are to each other. We have a family chest that i keep all of our special things in, photos, birth certificates, marriage certificates, hospital bands etc etc, everything thats special.. and the cards are all in there.
-
I keep the important ones. Engagement wedding babyshower first birthday...
There is a place online that turns them into books, I keep meaning to get that done.
-
I keep them... Birthday cards for all of us, thank you cards, christmas cards... I keep them all, they are in a big tea chest with all the photos and other family memorabilia things.
(I am a hoarder lol)
-
I keep the very special ones. I have a Memory Box made up for DD and have lots of special cards in there already - like her cards to DH and me on our birthdays, her first xmas card will go in and the cards that we got when she was born. I still have all of our wedding cards in a box somewhere and might stick some in the memory box too for her.
I am such a hoarder though!
-
I did have alot but then thought whats the point and recycled all of them...I have kept fist birthday ones naming day ones and wedding ones i think?
-
I kept the cards I got when each of the kids were born for their memory boxes, but all other cards have been chucked. TBH I hate the waste of paper when I get a card from someone in person, I would much rather they vocalised their sentiments. All cards in this house get recycled, usually within 48 hours of being received. I also don't give cards and annually donate the money I would spend on Christmas cards to charity, that being a much better way to spend my money IMHO. I will only give a card if I am not going to see the person or send a gift, in which case it is a card and a letter in one.
Did that help you make the move to clearing out, or are you horrified at my lack of sentiment and determined to keep everything so as not to end up like me?

Haha I started a thread about this about a year ago!!
Lots of people suggested a place online that binds them together in a nice book, I thought that was a good idea! I still haven't got mine done though lol
I keep ALL my cards -but like Lime, I'm a bit of a hoarder ;)
