I'm gonna throw a tantrum. She can just wear nappies until she's 21

Today I decided to start toilet training DD. It's only been half a day and I've put a nappy back on her and sent her to bed.

I just can't take it!

She's had one accident which I can deal with (a wee thankfully)...what I'm fed up with is her contantly being under my feet. Gee I sound like a spoilt brat!
It's hard work. I work full-time so I'm not used to having her around constantly. I don't know how you full-time mummies/daddies do it.

Anyway, I just haven't got the patience to stay with her constantly while she's wearing underware so I can watch for accidents.

I think I'll just go for a run to cool off.

Ok, maybe not.

Can you let her outside to play with no pants on and you sit down and relax for a little while? It does get a lot easier...

TT can be hard work, especially if they are not ready. Can you leave it a couple of more weeks? I have a GF who is not even thinking about TT her 3yr old. My DS2 was 3.5yrs when I started after a couple of real disasters.

we used "the potty trainer" method - its hard work for the first three days, but it has worked really well with my two girls. I think its really important that if youre going to ditch the nappies to not go back - if you keep switching it will be HEAPS harder for her to learn.

I'm meant to be using "the potty trainer" method but boy is it hard, especially seeing as I'm really not used to having DD around 24/7 as I'm usually at work and she's at daycare.

I had planned to do it during this time because I have time off from work and have booked DD holidays from daycare until 4 Jan.

Sometimes it's actually easier to do with Daycare involved, as other kids are going as well and they tend to just follow.

I can imagine it would be hard to TT, but its only been half a day, she needs time to learn, And be prepared for some accidents
Do you have carpet or floorboards/tiles?

:hug: I definitely feel your pain! We are TT at the moment and I have to say so far it is the first thing that has really made me feel thoroughly discouraged as a parent. Feeling much better about it now but a few weeks ago I was really struggling with it. A couple of suggestions....
1. Definitely get daycare involved. I was so hesitant to do this, because I felt like I should have done most of the work before involving them, but it really helps if you do it at the same time. They have done it with heaps of kids before, they are doing multiple kids at a time, and they are generally happy to do it with you.

but I found I just couldn't stick to it. When we are at home, we go out A LOT. We have to, there is shopping and errands and these things have to be done and DD has to come with me. I found I was just giving myself an aneurysm every time we left the house and hating going out with her, which was never the case before. So when we go out we use pull ups. I know it will probably take longer this way, but I want to get through the process with my sanity and my relationship with my DD intact and so that is the price I pay. She is doing great too, now she has dry pull ups quite frequently when I take her to the loo which is really encouraging. So now we have no knickers and potty close by at home, knickers at day care and pull ups for outings. As she learns we will move to knickers all the time but for now this is working.
3. Come and chat in this thread - I find it really helps to talk about it with people who are going through it.
