10 month old sleep climbing...HELP!!!

ok, dd is 10 months, she has been able to climb up to a stand at her cot for the past month, but only ever done it when she was sitting in there playing for short times while i put washing away, or vacumed. the last week and a bit she has been standing up after waking, waiting for someone to come get her, but the last 3 nights, after being put in her bed shehas been "sleep climbing" she will be compleatly asleep moving arround her cot and would start to climb the rail to a standing position, but would wake halfway up and freak out, if we put her in our bed she sleeps till what ever hour the next day, but if we settle her back in her bed, it gose on and on, 5 mins after shes asleep, it will happen again. if she sleeps on the couch she is fine, (naps threw the day ect) but once sleeping in the cot, same thing every time!

i started to think last night if we got her todler bed out, as it has the side rails would she stop then? or is she still to young for that? there has to be some way to stop this behaviour!!!

you could try the toddler bed? if it doesn't work you might have to try something else but it's worth a shot. FWIW my DD was a dreadful sleeper in the cot.

Sometimes when they learn a new skill, such as sitting up by themselves or standing, they can do it in their sleep for some time, and not work out how to get back down. Both of mine have done it, drove me nuts, it eventually died back down once they learnt to lay down again. Personally I wouldn't be going to a toddler bed that young, you'll more than likely find her asleep all over her room instead, or she could topple over the rails. I'd say she sleeps well in your bed cause as she goes through sleep cycles, she is comforted knowing you are beside her and doesn't stir as much, and naps during the day they tend to not move much at all.

Yep, dd would stand up on our bed and walk. I'd wake up because I'd feel her move but she was actually petrified of walking without assistance during the day. She'd practice in her sleep on the bed. Scared the hell out of me one night when I felt her at my feet and she was about to step off the bed. Maybe a toddler bed maybe the way to go. Even if you move her cot next to your bed so she can hear you breathe?

my ds use to sleep crawl in his cot. full pelt into the end of the cot. bang his head, cry a bit, then take off down the other end and repeat until I picked him up. It only took about 3 weeks for him to stop. I dont think a toddler bed would be your answer, just that she would end up on the floor or other random places.

do you have a sleeping bag you could put her in so to limit her limb movement?
