Just wondering if anyone has gone into labour before the scheduled C section.
I have just had a feeling I may not make it and the thought terrifies me because of my last birth 8 years ago. *4th degree tearing and she came so quick!
Just wondering what the general process is?
I am in private but about 40 minutes away..
Any info would be great. ; )
I didn't go into labour before my elective c-section but I started losing my plug 16 days before the event and god I was scared he was going to come early - no way in hell I wanted him to come out that way!! LOL
I discussed it with my doc and he just said to go into the hospital whenever I felt my first contraction so they would have time to do the operation. Luckily I never felt any ;)
tams - one of the mummas that was in my group when i had luke was due to have a c-section a few weeks after i had luke but when i got home from hospital, i saw a birth announcement. her waters broke while out shopping but was taken to hospital by ambulance and still ended up having a c-section as bub was breeched
I did. She was booked in for the Tuesday and I went into labour on the Friday. I ended up having a VBAC that same day. She wasn't born until 5.37pm so I was in labour for over 12 hours but I had an epidural so that prob slowed it down some. However I had the epidural in prep for the c-section but once it was in the head dr said I could attempt a vaginal birth if I wanted.

Yep, with DS I was scheduled for a c/s but my waters broke a week and a half before I was due to go in. I went straight to hospital (private) and after checking things out the midwives gave me something to stop the contractions until the ob arrived.
This happened to my next door neighbour - her waters broke earlier than the date and she was given the option of VBAC or c/s when she went in to hospital.
Oh Thanks girls. I was so worried, think I might be okay then. Just picture me going into labour and them saying "it is too late baby is coming now" So far from what you ladies have said I feel so much better, I had no idea there was something to stop contractions.
To be honest scared by this C section but not near as bad as the 8 months and then some, it took me to recover from the birth. Feeling heaps better. Thank you!!
It happened to me with DD2. I was scheduled to have a c/section at 6am and woke up in labour at 2am. It all happened very quickly. I got out of bed with my first contraction and tried to figure out if this was it or not. 10 mins later, my second contraction hit and 10 mins later a third. I didn't know what to do because the contractions seemed quite a distance apart but I was meant to be fasting for surgery so I didn't want to take panadol. DH suggested I have a shower and see if that eased the pain. I got in the shower and my contractions started coming on top of each other. I got out of the shower, convinced I was still in the early stages and called birth suite. They said to come in and they would check things out.
We arrived at birth suite 45 mins after the beginning of my labour and discovered that I was 9cm dilated. Pretty much all hell broke lose at that point. They would not let me deliver naturally because DD2 was a footling breech. People came from everywhere to do all sorts of things to me - the main thing was a injection straight into my tummy to stop my labour - it did stop it (though lead to a couple of issues later on with my uterus not shrinking properly because it would not contract by itself for a few hours after surgery so I was hooked up to a drip with a lot of syntocin pumping through it for a few hours after my surgery, ouchie!). My waters hadn't broken yet and I was told to lie completely still on the bed because if they broke I would need a GA. They gave me an ultrasound to check on the position of the baby, shaved my tummy etc, dressed me in a gown for surgery, gave me some awful drink and took me in for an emergency c/section. It was another hour after I got to hospital until they had DD2 out, but they managed it.
I think it was a bit more stressful because it was an emergency c/section rather than planned - both emotionally and physically - but it all worked out in the end.
Ive had 4 c/s...and yes 3 of them were elective adn with all 3 I went early.
DS2 - waters broke in therate as I was being place donto the 'slab'
DD1 - I was booked in for the utesday with 2 of my friends...seems she didnt want to share her bfday and went into labour midnight friday....had emergency c/s at 3.30 in the morning.
DS3 - labour began 3am the morning of the booking.....was ment ot be last on the list, ended up being first at 7am.
Let your doctor know your feelings at your next appointment.
FTR - my best c/s was with DD even though it was a hard labour I had no pain ect after my c/s at all
Yes C/S booked at 39 weeks waters broke at 37 had VD.
I went into labour 3 days before my scheduled C-Section in my last pregnancy. I progressed really quickly and they ended up performing an emergency C-Section 6 hours after my first contraction - at 4am! I have spoken to my OB about this potentially happening again in this pregnancy and we have worked out a contingency plan (my last experience was a mess - it messed with my head and it messed with my breast-feeding) because I don't want a repeat episode! I would discuss these concerns with your OB earlier rather than later x

my third bub was due on the 17th(friday) cesarean booked for the 15th(wednesday) went into labour on the 12th(sunday should have stayed at home and laboured!!) went into hospital (could have handled contractions at home easliy as soon as i got to hospital i couldn't handle them??) cesarean done afew hours later....
I went into labour 2 hours before my c section was scheduled with the DDs. Still had a c section they just moved faster :)
Wow, so quite a few of you! Glad to hear it won't be a bad thing if it happens. : )
