Hi, as the title suggests my 15 month old DD has been having tantrums and there seems to be more of them going on!!! Is it normal for a baby so young to be having tantrums every day - and usually a few of them over different things?
for example geting frustrated with a toy, or pointing to the fridge but refusing the food I offer her until its something SHE wants specifically, and being in the car - that is the worst!!!

Yep, I think its very normal! DD is having some doozies atm. I think mainly out of sheer frustration, she knows what she wants but she just cant quite do it. We have been having them for a while and am finding distraction to be the key to less screaming iykwim. We have finally gotten over the car tantrums but DD was never a good traveller until recently.
It just doesnt seem right such small babes throwing huge tantrums though, hey?!?
Erm... well, they started here a bit after 12 - 13 months & got worse :hide:

oh yep its normal, sorry to say. Has the headbutting started yet? My DS is 18months and whilst its easier to figure out the triggers, it also means he just starts alot quicker and last longer.
totally normal my DD2 has been tantruming everyday and many times a day now since about that age and still going at 29 months old, she headbutts, bites, kicks, screams, tries pulling her own heair out its a nightmare, sorry i have no advice but yes it is completely normal and you are certainly not alone in the battle!
My DD2 throws the biggest tanties and she is 18 months tomorrow. She's been at it for a while stomping her feet, screaming, flinging her arms around and if I pick her up she pushes off with her arms and legs and doesn't stop screaming. DD1 never had tantrums this early or at this scale. It's exhausting!
Very normal. A lot of the time its frustrating at not being able to communicate what they want to get or want you to know.
Baby signs is very useful during this period. With it they are able to communicate with words, well before they are capable of speaking them. We found it fantastic with DD1, the frustration never really got bad, when we worked out what she wanted, she could teach her a new sign to ask for it. Eventually she actually would want to learn new signs herself.
Ahhhh yes!! The car was the worst for a while too... the curdling screaming omg! That lasted 2/3 months at it's worst. I agree with studymum it's because they want to communicate but can't get it across what they want. Elijah has found his ways of working around this and communicates quite effectively with no words at all. I find that I need to be rather attentive when he's trying to get across what he wants and pick up on his signs. He lets you know quickly if you're on the right path or not lol. It does get better :)

Yep - We've had tantrums galore since he was 12 months! But, although I don't like them, I'm just learning to deal with them. Good luck hun!
(Btw, DS has hit the headbutt stage too - and it's not fun!)
Would you believe DS threw his first hour long tanty at 9 months old? Oh when I finally calmed him down enough for boob he fell asleep for hours!
We still have one every day or 2 now.
Can't comment on weather or not they grow out of it, since DH still does it & DD1 & DS are just like him :rolleyes:
lol sounds very normal - we've had them for months already - full on headbanging and everything!
