3.5 year old... im at my wits end.

What the **** have i created?

DS is sooooo sooky all the time!

When he doesnt get his own way - he sooks
When someone takes a toy off him - he sooks
When he hurts himself (even if its only minimal) - he sooks
When i say no to him - he sooks
When i change the channel on the tv - he sooks

Farrrrr out i know most of you are going to say thats a typical 3.5 year old, but ive even had my mum and a few other people tell me 'politely' thats hes a sooky kid.

Not only that he doesnt listen to ANYTHING i say. It is seriously like he doesnt hear a word i say.. doesnt even batter an eyelid. (FWIW i know he can hear fine lol)

I swear he is the cause of my grey hair! im only 22!!!

Back to the point.. I really dont know what to do anymore, nothing seems to work.

HELP :(

I have never found him sooky at all, and i am not just saying that. Is it only just the past few weeks???

Might be a bit off left field but have you wormed him? I know it may seem silly but it makes them really irritable and sooky.

ive found 1-2-3 magic really good for sooking with DD1 if i get to 3 she goes into time out

oh yeah olive i use that all the time.. doesnt make a difference.

He might be still adjusting to the visits with his dad maybe, i wonder if he is sooky with them or if they give him what he wants and therefore he is expecting the same from you..
Not sure sorry i am not much help.

My DD2 was just like that Muffy! It used to drive me batty.

I used to tell her I don't listen to sooking and encourage her to 'use her words', when she did I'd get excited and praise her.

I also used to tell her that if she wanted to sook she could but she had to do it in her bedroom. It took a while but in the end she used to run to her room to sook :rofl:

My ds is the same, it drives me mental lol. I do the same things as tinks as well as 1-2-3. I've come to the conclusion it's just a phase and tell myself "this to shall pass"

my ds1 has become so sooky in the last month or so. it is driving us absolutely crazy!

i'm subbing cos i have absolutely no idea how to deal with it.

Do you think that perhaps he does it because it gets your attention? When he does it how do you react? Do you stop and tell him not to whinge and thusly engage in conversation with him? They can be cunning little things sometimes!

I am having the same issues he carries on when I change the channel he carries on when I turn tv off he carries on when he doesnt get his way and when he wants something and he can have it. Maybe its the age it does my head in Ive tried time out and other things nothing seems to work. he will be 4 in may people say it will pass I hope so. He doesnt listen to me or listen to reason so I can understand what you are going thorugh

As Raven has suggested we found that we were giving DD1 way more attention if she was sooking than otherwise so tried to brush over it and move on briskly. I did have to be brutally honest about when it happened, if I was talking on the phone/doing housework so tried to point out when we were hanging out and explain when I was doing stuff. It was hard work and I really was ready to throttle her but it got better after a few weeks.

My son is being sooky too, he's 3.5 this month :hug:
