2nd surgery for blocked tear duct!

DS (2.5) has had a blocked tear duct since birth. He had the probe surgery about 8-9 months ago, which did nothing, really. He needs another round of surgery, which will either be another probe (lower success rate than the first), or the insertion of a tube- which has a higher success rate, but which requires another surgery 3-4 months later to remove the tube.

Has anyone gone through this, or know anyone who has? Its quite rare, so I am struggling to find support, experience and information.
