is this normal??

someones thread just reminded me of what i wanted to ask.. lol thanks angel student lol
k dd went to her check up today n while i was there they weighed her she is 4.4 kilo's n her height is 56 cm n her head/c is 38cm
in which the nurse said ill check that again... n then she checked it again n again..
n then started asking questions like can she turn her head does she prefer one side or she alternates??
answers yes she alternates my dd is a big tummy sleeper but she only sleeps on her right side not her left n she never really lays flat on her head while on her back..
k my question is that normal??
she made comments like wow thats growing fast n kept measuring her n her head to see if the measurements where right...

i hate that, when you're asked specific questions, the person in authority takes it in - they're obviously making some kind of educated conclusion in their head, but don't tell you what that is, so we mums assume the worst. i wish they would be more transpararent with their questions, tell us why they're asking, let us know if the outcome if something to be concerned aobut OR NOT, thereby stopping mums going home worried - like you are today. btdt.

I think that as long as all the measurements stay in similar percentile brackets then there is nothing to worry about. I know that DD2 always turned her head one direction, and as we were seeing a chiro at the time, he worked on her neck (and her reflux and gas) and it worked well. I made sure to swap sides on a regular basis with her as well.

My sisters DS had the same problem as me but they didn't recognise it and he developed a flat spot on his head from not being able to turn it properly. it was noticed at about 9 months and by that stage it was quite bad. They saw a physio or chiro and got his neck and head moving properly. Nowadays it is almost evened out, and with hair it is totally not noticable at all.

If you are worried, see the GP or a paed, they will be really reassuring that it does happen and can be fixed.

All my kids have big boofy heads compared to their bodies. At his last checkup the mchn did the same she remeasured. I am used to it now and everything catches up later on.

Does your dd have a flat spot at all? If she does encourage her to turn her head by playing with toys and talking to get her head to turn the opposite side.

rytha/blackrose- she is very hard to tell with she has a mop of hair believe me when i say mop alot of ppl think she is wearing wig i can actually put an elastic in her hair.. i do turn her alternately cus i dont want that to occur..

i thought it might just be a thing thinking in over drive lol i get very paranoid when they ar ethis level due to my eldest ds's complications at birth n cus these last two have been fine its like im waiting for the bomb to drop iykwim lol
