split seats and rear facing baby car seat

My car has a one third/two thirds split seat in the back and the baby car seat is in the centre position (this is where the hook is positioned). The car seat is currently facing backwards and this leads to the security strap to sometimes fall down the gap in the back seat and therefore lose its tightness. (hope you understood that).

My LO is now grabbing the straps more often which pull them down into the gap. Anyone else have this problem? What did you do?

My LO has reached weight for forward facing, but if i can get t safe and secure in the rear facing position i would prefer to do this for a few more months.

maybe enquire at your local baby shop as i think there is these things that go over the top of the seat that stops it from slipping down itms??
i have the same sort of seats lol but my dd is next to the door as she wont fit next to ds booster lol

It might be safer to move the seat to the passenger side rather than the middle? I think the straps being loose could be worse than the seat being behind the front passenger... If it fits behind there rear facing that is.

The car only has one hook for the anchor point and that is in the middle. I'm gonna check the manual to see if there are other spots for the anchor point but i don't think there will be. It's an older corolla hatchback so not a really big car.

It should have holes there for the sides they probably have big plastic plugs over them...you take them out and screw the hook in......I don't know of any car that just has the one anchor hole...the cars onlycome with one bolt but should have at least two holes or three. And yeah we have had to move the seat from the centre to the side so we can remain rearfacing also......lesser of two evils and all that jazz.....

I have looked before but couldn't find any extra holes. Will have another look tomorrow.

It's a 1994 Corolla Seca hatchback.

A registered installer can put the bolts in for you.

Is there any carpet behind the seat? DP's car had the holes hidden under the carpet and my younger sister's car it's behind the seat under the carpet in the boot. There could be a panel to pull up.

I have been googling...the 1992 corolla hatch has three point so would assume the 1994 model has three also...you just might have to look for them...either in the back panel the hatch hooks into or in the floor pan under the carpet...or even in the floor of the boot just behind the rear seats (this is where they go in some wagons).....will have plastic plugs in them with maybe a flat blade screw slot.

I meant whatever you need to anchor a seat they can do.

In the AE9x Seca there are 3 round plastic bungs covering the restraint points, right at the back between the tail lights. The middle one is lower than the other two. You'll spot them.

Sorry, i wasn't sure that my car (being an older model) was capable of having more than one anchor point. So that's what i was trying to work out first. My LO was having a non-sleeping party night and i wasn't paying attention to what i was posting so apologies for being a bit short with you.

Melbel, finally got my LO to bed and went to have a look. I found bungs that could be right, will just have to take off the middle anchor point or get new hook to see if it screws in proper. Thank you. I think i will have to move her across to passenger side, cos behind driver is the one third split, and same thing could happen with the straps.

they are cheap enough to get another bolt if the centre one won't come out...it is a universal fitting you should be able to get one from a babystore or the RACV for sure.....

Target sell the bolts too.

I found the extra holes, and got extra long bolt that it needed and now have the car seat on the side! Yay. It's more secure now, easier to get bub out too and means i can keep her rear facing for longer. Thanks you
