My Husband and our Babies in the same room!

Ok so I have been sleeping in the same room as my girls while I was BF DD2 but she stopped a few months ago and I am more than ready to move into the 'marital' room. First we have to get DD1 back to sleeping in her bed as she has been sleeping in 'daddy's' bed and now I have to get DH to get over his crazy idea that one of us or both of us needs to be in the room with them overnight in case we can't hear them from the other room and they need us. Far out he is driving me mental. All four of us have been sleeping in the same room (luckily it is a big room and we can fit a queen bed and 2 toddler beds in there) but seriously we are about 15 metres away in the other room and the girls are loud if they want something. He knows he is being silly but can't do it. I might sleep in the other room and see how that goes plus he is away for a week soon so I can 'train' the girls with our new sleeping arrangements.

do you have a baby monitor? Can you suggest that? tell him you can have the volume on full next to HIS side of the bed if he's worried he won't hear it.

Good thinking. We don't have a monitor but the phone doubles as one so I will suggest that to him.

A baby monitor is def the go, if he's not happy with the phone then i'd tell him to pop into target or somewhere and pick one up on special, most these days come with lights aswell so if he's worried about not hearing/seeing whats going on.

I am another for suggesting the baby monitor. One tip is try not to have it RIGHT near their beds because every little sniffle, snore, wriggle will be picked up. Try it on the other side of their room. It's like someone on a PA system next to your bed if put too close to them! I was petrified when DD actually slept in her cot that I wouldn't hear her wake and only used the monitor for one night. It was so damn loud lol. She's literally only 5 meters away though.

Thanks ladies. Monitor is definitely the go. Did I mention that our girls are 3 and 1.5 years old? I'm sure I will have to be shuffling the 3 year old back to her bed in the middle of the night but DD2 sleeps through the night now no problems.
