worried about listeria
I was reading about listeria and just remembered that I ate some Brie cheese on Christmas day when I was about 11 weeks pregnant (and didn't know it at the time). Now I'm really worried about listeria should I see a doctor for testing? Thanks for any help!

Hey Lauren
Listeria is an infection that has symptoms like food poisoning. If you are ok then you're ok!!

Hi Lauren - given it was about 5 weeks ago it's unlikely that you consumed any listeria in the cheese - you would have been sick by now. But, I am not a medical professional so if you want 100% peace of mind I would always go see your GP. Try not to stress though as you are likely to be fine :)

Was it fresh from the fridge? Ie cold? Not sitting out too long at room temp? U should be fine like the others have said but see your gp if worried

I think you'll be fine :)

I too think you'll be fine. All Australian cheeses (including soft cheeses) are pasteurised anyway so they are actually OK to eat providing they are cold and fresh.

As long as it wasnt sitting out for hours you should be fine. I eat brie still but straight from the fridge.

You should be fine, but Listeria doesn't cause a blood infection the same way as other bacteria cause a blood infection. And even though its pasturised, it could still have Listeria in it. It requires a lower dose of bactirium (around 1000 cfu) than other bacteria, but if you don't feel sick, then I wouldn't stress, just mention it to the doctor next time you see him
