Well DP wants to put the seat in himself. He says its better because he will have to take it out and re-install it sometime and I kind of see his point but I think I want to get it done professionally?
When do you normally get it installed?
Thanks

DH did ours but I think the RACV offers an installation service.
I got ours professionally fitted and turned.
Was booked for 36 weeks but DH made me cancel as he thought was to early so Haha was booked in for day DS1 was born at 38 weeks!!
We had ours done at baby bunting.
I think the ambo's do it here. I was wondering when to get it done too. I might just get them to put the base in for me.
Maybe Vic Roads do it too?
We got the ambo's to do DS's the day that we took him home from the hospital. Unfortunately because we had never looked at it, we had no idea how to adjust the strap length and couldn't get him in for about 45 minutes - full of swearing, tears, sweat... you get the picture.
Since then, we've just put our own in.. LOL
for the reversible car seat in my car, and the capsule in DH's car, we got the Red Cross to install for us (we hired the capsule through the Red Cross SA). I wasn't keen on installing these ourselves. This changed with when we did the forward facing seats, my car I got a family friend to do it for us (we got the seat off them to start with) and the Red Cross installed DH's car seat when we returned the capsule although it was still reversed. I did the turn for his car, having read the instructions several times and watched how my car seat was installed so I was fairly confident about it. I've since had to take out the car seats to get stuff into each car without DS around so I've re-installed in both cars. BUT I would still get a professional to install the reverse facing seat/capsule, just because baby is such a precious cargo.
Baby Bunting offer a service (via an independant company)
You could always let your DP put it in himself, then have it checked by whoever you book it in to professionally, and then atleast you'll know if he's got it right or what he needs to do to make it right. I hope that makes sense.
We had free fitting with our seat when we bought it by the guy certified at the shop. We did the above and DH enjoyed gloating when the guy said it was in perfectly.
We had ours professionally installed in both cars (one base only) - one at baby bunting and one by a certified installer. I didn't want to risk getting it wrong.
What did you end up deciding A? We got ours installed professionally because we weren't confident about doing it ourselves. If we were confident, we'd have just done it ourselves and saved the $$$.
We have done both and i've been amazed at the difference of it when it has been done professionally. So sturdy and secure. They put extra clips on the seat belts and a roll of foam underneath the seat to get it in just the right position. The council has offered it as a free service a few times a year - advertised in the local paper.
Well it's in. I'm not that happy about it. I'm going to get the place next to dp's work to check it over. It seems a bit to wobbly to me :/
