Apparently yes. I didn't know that but I did read somewhere recently about how it's a live vax, therefore possible to get sick from kiddies nappies. I had a VERY bad tummy bug when Elijah was about, I think 2 or 4 months old... can't remember... BUT in hindsight, after reading it... I think that's exactly where I got it. I was VERY sick for a good 12 hours and took about 48 to really get over it and start to feel normalish.

yeah I was told by the nurse when C got his vacces to be supercareful when washing hands for at least a week to ten days after changing a nappy..it will come out in their pooh. On the nappy front it is advisable to hot wash (60degrees or so) and chuck some canestan or dettol rinse in the nappy wash for this period of time...I always did for acouple of weeks after to be super sure th bugs were gone.....

You can also rinse with vinegar and tea tree oil to kill bugs.

Yep, about 80%, so in line with bleach and other cleaning agents. A double rinse during this time is most probably advisable.:
Just makes me think about the environmental effect of disposables even more. Can you image all these virus poo nappies in land fill, being rained on and the water running off into the water tables. Ew! At least with cloth, it's going into the toilet, where it belongs and can be treated.
tea tree is an antiviral but I'd be using that and hot water. Rotavirus is one of those ..umm...'hardier' bugs
Oh gosh - I hadn't thought about the virus in their nappies at all!!
Better do some extra rinses and cannestan... DS has just had his rotavax!
I advise against using vinegar in any nappies that have elastic or PUL...it will markedly lessen he life of your nappies as it rots the stuff....

when it was just DS it didnt happen and it wasnt too bad but i noticed he had dioreha(sp) (and hes been vaxed) but she was fine maybe coz it was her poo she wasnt affected maybe?
Some diarrhoea is a common side effect of the rotarix vaccine. It is live vaccine but attenuated (weakened) and they should advise you to keep them away from immunocompromised people after vaxing.
jeez wish there was more warning all i get told is to make sure i wash my hands after every change but i do that anyway
Is it only transferable through the pooey nappies or can it be from saliva also? I ask cos I got it after Elijah had his vax and like I said up further, in hindsight I know now it was from him. Tell ya it sucked and DH was in Townsville at the time!
yeah it would have im lucky i didnt catch it when DS got it i did get it while i was preg though twice so not fun
