Well, just bought a breeding box for the ****atiels, there are currently 2 eggs on the bottom of the cage. I know they aren't viable, and will remove them soon. BUT!
How do I best care for the birds and their eggs? Do I just leave them alone, but make sure they have lots of food, seed, fruit & veg and water? Or is there anything else I should do? do I open up the lid of the box to look in? Help!
I know when my ****atiels bred they had a few duds first up and then went on to have babies. We didn't change their food or anything either.
How long have the eggs been there? I think they took a while to hatch from memory :dunno:.
Since I posted they laid another egg, so I've put this new egg in the box. We did have a couple of chicks last year (in a different box though) but they didn't survive :( And the year before we had a baby bird that didn't survive once we put it in its own cage - the boy bird was bashing it up :(
I would just like for them to have chicks that survive - I guess then that we'll either get an outdoor aviary, or be looking to sell them!
Well lost another baby bird today. would love to have one that survives. This one was kicked out of the nest a couple of days ago, but it only had feathers on half of it? how weird.
