Almost 3 months accident free... but now...

Jazzy is 2.5yo and has been toilet trained since the end of October, no accidents since mid November, but since Thursday she's been having small accidents in her undies, and yesterday morning and this morning she had a big accident where she just wee'd without any warning.

She's always been one to just yell out "WEE!" or "POO!" and then take herself off to the potty or toilet, she knows when she wants to go, and she had been dry when she slept during the day and almost always dry in the morning when she wakes up.

But since about Wednesday or Thursday last week she's been having small accidents in her undies, they are wet but no puddles, and THEN she realises she needs to wee, and these big accidents just came without any warning and not until she was weeing did she realise she needed to go.

We took her to the doctor after Jazz had some funny vaginal discharge about two weeks ago who told us to use canestan cream, and give her some inner health plus and she'll be right, but now this I am wondering if she has a urinary tract infection?
The thing is, she hasn't said she is in pain at all, and she isn't scratching or grabbing or anything that would make me wonder if she has thrush or an infection, except the accidents and maybe the discharge a fortnight ago?

I'm not sure - I've asked her and she has no pain? Can they have a UTI without pain? Do you think she's just holding on too long? Maybe getting distracted? Nothing has really changed but maybe she's just not a vigilent and she's getting used holding on and to the feeling of a full bladder, or maybe WE'RE not as vigilent as we were, reminding her and saying "you haven't wee'd in a while, do you need to wee?".

But then theres the question that I don't want to remind her too much in case she relies on it and doesn't take herself? Or maybe she already is relying on it?

Im not sure about LO's but I have had a UTI and not had any pain.

Im not upto the toilet training stage yet so am not much help...

My DS had a patch of accidents about a month ago after being TT for 6 months. It coincided with a huge leap in pretend/role-playing type of play, he was just so engaged in his activity he was ignoring the urge until it was too late. After three accidents in one day I cracked it and made him wear pull-ups for a couple of hours - problem solved!

Maybe try asking her a bit more often just in case she is forgetting to go.

Interesting - she has just gone through this leap as well - just got an imaginary friend (a horse named Winter) Friday night. And is doing a lot of imaginary and role-play...

Is it common for kids to go through this? Forgetting about it until it's too late? I know it is for some but she was so good from the get go, and now she's having accidents?

Leasha, my DS2 has had a shocking weekend. Not completely wetting his pants, but certainly having a big wet spot on them because he's leaving it too late to go. He has had a pretty big weekend with the older kids riding bikes and building cubby houses so I put it down to that and just being too busy to recognise the signs.

Oh my girls did that. DD1 was 5 & still too wrapped up in playing to go.
It happened at school & that was the end of it, but even now, at nearly 9, I see her dancing around & tell her to go.
'But I don't need to'... She hasn't actually wet since that time at school, but is forever doing the wee dance & thinks I'm dumb :rolleyes:

DS has just started doing it on occasion too. He's been TT since September. He just gets too wrapped up in what he's doing & forgets to go.

Overnight, if he's warm, he's dry. If he gets cold, he'll wet. I'm getting some training pants from genesa forge, coz I really don't want to put him back in nappies, but I'm over washing the sheets & blankets!

UTI would be my guess too - I've seen kids at work do exactly as you describe when they have one.

I've also had a UTI without any real pain. A tiny twinge internally but it didn't bother me so I ignored it (which wasn't the right thing to do!)...but no burning or anything.

could be either Leasha. I know DD does the too busy to wee thing too on occasion, but you can def have a UTI with no pain.

DS has this happens sometimes too... majority of the time when he's about to come down with cold :(
