I was given the choice for gently inducing me with DD1, logically I knew it probably wouldn't end in the birth I was looking forward to, and was risky to her as well considering her high position so I elected to have another c-section.
At the end of the day, weighing up the risks of both options is all you can do, and whatever you decide to go with is hopefully the one you will end up happy with!
I have pelvic/back issues, so my first birth had to be a c-section. The pelvic issue is still there and so I need another c-section for this pregnancy. I must, however, say that even if my back had improved and my rheumatologist said I could go for a VBAC this time around if I liked, I would STILL choose a c-section for this pregnancy. I found my first c-section to be an empowering experience and I certainly didn't feel like any less of a woman / mother etc. (common issues, apparently) because I had one. I recovered well and baby was great. I bonded perfectly with my wonderful little boy and it really was just a lovely experience all around. I am looking forward to my next one. I wish you well in making your decision :)
Fear of failure, the unknown, things being out of my control.
Unfortunately because with my 6th bub I had to have a emergency classical c-section I had to have another c-section with my 7th...I was not even allowed to attempt a VBAC. I tried hard but unfortunately no one would even consider it.
1st ~ no choice was an emergency
2nd ~ offered VBAC BUT i was impatient so opted for c-section
3rd ~ tld i had NO choice
4th ~ hopefully later this year ;)
i had to have a c-section with my first son because he was breached and very high up and decided to have another one with my second son because felt it was safest option as i am diabetic and didnt want to risk harm on my son. Both my c-section i had good experinces with healed really well and up working the next day wth boy still with a little pain but was walking. i would of done anything different i would of likes to experince a natural birth but its my babies health that mattered the most.
thank you so much for your honest replies ladies :) you rock xx

Because I ended up getting gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy and I feared bub would be too big to push out and that it would put too much pressure on my scar. In the end he was 3.7kilos so really not that big at all.
If I have a 3rd and I have a complication free pregnancy. I'll be going for a VBA2C for sure :)
I had 2 vaginal births before a c/section with my third. The reason I had an elective c/section for my fourth and not a VBAC: I wasn't given a choice - they said I was, but there really was no option. Hospital policy and I didn't go into labour by myself by 38w3d and due to him being a 'large' baby, they wouldn't let me deliver naturally. DS2 was 3.7kg when he was born - the smallest of all my babies ironically.
With my first c/section, it was planned (due to footling breech baby) but turned into an emergency c/s when I had a very fast progressing labour 3 hours before my scheduled c/section. The recovery was very painful and I was quite badly bruised. I had an elective one this time, and despite it not being the way I hoped it would happen, everything was much calmer, my scar is a lot less painful and my recovery has been so much better. Everything has been different this time.
I had a CS with my first for a couple of reasons, she was frank breech and had known medical problems which would require a qualified team at her birth, it turned out to be the best decision I made having a CS as she needed quiet extensive care at birth.
With DD2 I would have liked to have a VB but when we discovered that she has a heart condition we decided (after months of discussion) to have another CS so that cardiac team could be in the theatre waiting for her to arrive. The only other option was to be induced but as I had a previous CS I was not comfotable with that.
With this baby I would like to attempt a VBA2C however if baby has a medical condition again I would not hesitate having another CS. I healed well after my previous CS's and I don't really feel that I have to have a VB to feel like a woman or a Mum but it would be nice to experience it if I can, if you know what I mean.
hunni if you are researching a VBAC i have some brilliant reading material for sle ;) books.... and discs
