Hoping for a VBAC after 2 'over due' babies!

Hi lovely VBAC ladies

Just looking for some insights/experiences from those of you who have had inductions prior to your VBAC preg.

DS and DD were 12 days and 10 days 'O/D', respectively and both were finally born after long, drawn-out inductions. My take on it is that my babies just take longer to cook and they were both just not ready to be born. DS ended as a vag delivery but DD was EC.

So, I want a VBAC with this bub...my fear though is that this preg will also take 42 weeks and I'll be hard-pressed finding an OB who will let me go that long.

So, what do you think? Is there ANY chance I could go earlier or is no.3 most likely to be like 1 and 2?

Has anyone been induced and still got their VBAC?

My ob was willing to let me go to 10-12days over assuming everything was fine with scans and monitoring. I guess at the end of the day you can always refuse to be booked in?

I was kinda induced the only thing they were willing to help along was ARM, which i had done. Unfortunately mine ended in another emergency ceaser but i have never given birth vaginally before. You have so you have an awesome chance of getting that VBAC!

ETA again - the ARM i had performed was not to start labour (had been in labour for 2 days already before that happened)

My OB with my first vbac was going to let me go to 42+5, however DD1 developed placenta problems and had to be taken out by c-section, my OB didn't induce for a vbac and I wouldn't have wanted to be induced either, greater chance of c-section if bubs just isn't ready.

With my successful vba2c I was 12 days overdue, spontaneous labour.

I'm expecting to go over this time as well. What can I say - I'm a slow cooker!

My DD was 12 days overdue (spontaneous labour). This time I'm hoping for a VBAC too and I told the hospital I wouldn't be induced and would have monitoring when I got to 42 weeks if I got that far. They have no problem with that.

All of my first three babies were overdue, DS2 ended in an emergency CS.
With my VBAC I had until 42 weeks, with monitoring from 41+3 (which was when labour started, spontaneously). I think it's well worth negotiating, especially if you know your babies cook a bit longer.

Both my children were overdue by 2 weeks.

The first was a c-section at 42 weeks (high floating head) and he was 9lb 13oz. I asked the ob about induction but his experience was that under these circumstances it would end in a c-section anyway (and I had chosen him as he was typically low intervention and recommended by midwives ?).

Anyway my second was a successful VBAC and was born right on 42 weeks and only 8lb 13oz. I had monitoring from about 41+3 days. My next OB (different state) was happy to let me go as long as I wanted unless the monitoring revealed anything. He would not induce me after having a C-section as the risk of uterine rupture increased (marginally but I dont think the hospitals let it happen anyway).

You have a history of successfully giving birth vaginally so your chances of a successful VBAC are much higher. If you are intent on having a VBAC I would be discussing with your OB or midwife about how long they will let you go and at what point they want you to undertake monitoring and what the risks of induction are. Possibly research natural induction methods too ( I was too disorganised to attempt natural induction seriously so dont ask my advice on that). If you go longer than 42 weeks I think the fight with the ob will get harder.

I am currently pregnant with my third and will attempt a 2VBAC (and back with the same doctor that delivered my first through c-section). I always postulated that my underactive thyroid also didnt help my body go into labour but could really find anything to support this (other than a similar thing happening to a friend).

Im planning a vba3c and my OB and private midwife were happy for me to go 10 days over. Also, I tend to have a 32 day cycle which gave me an extra 4 days up my sleeve when my OB adjusted my due date to match my cycle days. So I 'was' due on the 11th May, then my OB realised id actually be due on the 15th May, and then she gave me an extra 10 days over. If you have a longer cycle than normal, make sure your OB knows that because it can significantly affect your actual due date :)

i was 11 days over with my DD and i had a VBAC. i don't think they would induce you if you have had a previous c/s, it puts too much pressure on the scar. but if you let them know that you have previously had 'overdue' babies, they will probably be happy to negotiate with you, if you had extra monitoring or whatever. i wouldn't stress too much about it, most hospitals and OB's tend to be more understanding of women and their birth plans these days....i say 'most' cause i know there aren't Lol.

Mine was an unsuccessful VBAC attempt however I went to 42 weeks with monitoring and bub was more than happy with that and we could have possibly gone longer. Some hospitals will break your waters or use a balloon catheter to induce, others won't. Mine would break my waters only if bub was engaged which he wasn't so it does vary. My hospital were very set on me booking in at 9 days overdue for a c/s however, I respectfully declined, spoke to the head ob and was able to get to 42 weeks. Good luck!
