Royal Far West
We have just found out that DD2 may have auditory & visual processing disorders.
(Sensory Processing Disorders)
I've been asking questions & doing some reading to find out more & where we go from here.
I've booked gp app for paed referral, & asked the only local person I know who might have a clue where I'd need to go. Her DD has DS & also has SPD.
As far as she knows, there isn't much here. They were having to go down to New Castle for alot of testing & they didn't worry too much, as it was just too much, too far for their DD.
While talking to her I thought of RFW. I'm going to talk it over with my gp & the paed, but wanted to see what I could find out here.
MIL, BIL & my dad all spent time there, but I'm sure alot has changed in the past 25 - 40 years. (My dad had electric shock treatment for behavioural problems. He was sent down there, alone at 8 :( Not the best experience...)
I'm not sure she would be serious enough to qualify, but if there really is no help here, surely she should be considered?
Other things. Is accomidation free? Specialists etc? Is it public?
I'm just exploring ALL options at the moment, so we know where we stand...
Off to google paeds & services here...

Is that the place at Manly? They have a good website from memory.....I think they might have an outreach service up north too....

I just read that. I think they are at Manly & it says they have an outreach centre at Casino.

My cousin went there with their daughter who has aspergers, and while I haven't spoken directly with my cousin, my aunty couldn't give it a better rap if you paid her.

not sure what if anything it cost my mum (will ask tomorrow) but my brother went there (Manly) to see specialists for his ADHD. I am pretty sure it covered their travel costs and accomodation and they booked all the appointments and got them to those appointments.
