The vaginal birth after multiple caesareans thread :)

I just thought I would start a thread where those of us who have had or would like to have a vbac after 2 or more caesareans could come to share stories, tips and aspirations, discuss fears and concerns etc and basically just support each other.

A snipet about me: I am not actually pregnant with #3 yet but I do hope to have a vba2c. If you'd asked me 12 months ago I probably would have said I personally didnt feel comfortable about attempting a vba2c, but after reading more into it, and especially the stats from the 2010 ACOG vbac guidelines indicating that vbac after multiple caseareans could be a safe option, I am really hoping to give it a go.
I have had 2 elective caesareans for different reasons, and although on the whole my last cs was very positive, I still have a yearning to experience a vb.

I will leave it at that for now and look forward to getting to know others who have had/ or hope to have a vaginal birth after 2 or more caesareans.

I had a VBA2C after having 2 elective CS's that were both quite positive CS's without any complications. DD1 was a CS for breech and DS was just a repeat elective CS because I couldn't decide if I wanted to VBAC or not and we had a family tradgety really close to my due date so I was happy with the familiarity of CS.
My decision to have a VBA2C came about because I knew I would be having 3 kids and after #2 I wondered if I would regret not even experiencing labour. So I read everything. Silent knife gave me the biggest confidence boost in knowing I could do it. I read heaps of VBAC birth stories watched a lot of youTube montages and birth documentaries and got involved in a couple of VBAC forum groups.
I had my VBA2C in a private hospital with my OB who performed both my CS's and an Independant Midwife to support me at home and then come with me to hospital for support. Birth story is in my sig if anyone is interested.
The biggest key to success is support. I made my DH read everything I read so that we were both on the same page. If my OB hadn't been supportive I would have either gone public with my IM or homebirthed.
I also think that when doing your research and reading, learning about birth and the way the body works to birth is essential, not just focusing only on VBAC. VBAC is all about having a scar on your uterus and overcoming the fear that is planted in our brains that our scar may rupture. Vaginal birth part of VBAC however is just that. Pushing a baby out your vagina. So it is important to learn about the biology and chemistry of birthing. What is my body doing and why is it doing that and what can I do to help it be more efficient in passing a baby thought the birth canal. It is said so many times in VBAC posts but it is so true - KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!

Hannabanana, thanks for sharing your story. It's re-assuring to know that other mums who have never laboured before (like yourself and arimeh's eden) have gone on to have a vbac after 2 cs. I will most definately be having a private midwife as extra support.

Thanks Mummaspice :) My Midwife is amazing! She is an IM, but also works at the hospital that I will be birthing at, so she is able to deliver my baby aswell. We have become such good friends already and id love nothing more than to have her look after me in labour and deliver my bub. Its perfect!!

I had my appt with one of the OB's at the hospital the other day. I was expecting to be grilled about having a vbac, but it really couldnt have been more opposite. She was very supportive and not once did she say it wasn't possible. She was very up to date on all the latest info and shared it with me.

I am very blessed to have had such an easy journey so far :)
