Hi
Just about to embark on my second antagonist cycle. It is a back to back one so I had a couple of sick days just a fortnight or so ago for pickup. I don't want to tell work I am doing ivf but in a week to ten days i will need another three days off for pickup and transfer. I need a good excuse as to why I need the time off. But not death in family as that would not sit right at all. Grrrrr I hate lying!

How about that you have to go into the doctors for a minor procedure and you will need a couple of days off? You don't need to say any more then that and then your not lying...
Yeah. Problem is I used the d&c (which I actually ended up having) as my excuse last time. I wouldn't need anything related so soon again would I?
what about saying that it's a personal medical reason... they have no right to ask any more questions just a medical certificate which I'm sure you'll be able to get
You don't have to tell them what procedure. Just that you are having one.
"Hi Bob, Just indorming you that i won't be at work for the next three days (Or from 23th-27th) due to the fact I am having a minor medical procedure done, and need the time to recover. I will issue you with a medical certificate if required. Thanks Jan"
Yep, you do not have to tell them anything.. Just tell them the days you are having off and tell them you can either fax the med cert to them or bring it in when you return. Ask them what they would prefer.. Fax or bring in?? They DO NOT have to know ANYTHING!!
They don't need to know the reason. Just say medical procedure! Ask your Dr to write a certificate saying the same. It is your private business.
I told my work the truth... But when ever I needed a medical certificate for work the reason they put on it was "for hospitalisation and extensive medical testing". This was given for when I needed time off after a miscarriage and D&C, when I had really bad OHSS and again when I had a complete melt down in the lead up to another collection and know OHSS was coming again. They were even nice enough to give me medical certificates with just my doctor's name on them and not the name of the clinic.

As above, you aren't required to tell management anything related to medical problems unless it's a long-term issue involving return-to-work. If anyone asks you, and you're not comfortable telling them what's happening, just roll your eyes and say "oh doctors, they want to do more tests and stuff"

I forgot to mention that I only have one day of sick leave left atm so I will need to take some of my annual leave. I have plenty but it might require a bit more explanation....Oh well, hopefully this time I will get UTD and all my future appointments will be with obstetricians with no explanation needed :)

Can you just use the annual leave and say you just want a few days break? Nobody generally questions annual leave. Unless of course there is the worry it won't be approved.
If that's the case - I would just say "I am having a medical procedure done and as I have no sick leave left I would like to access my annual leave for the time that I will need" That way you don't need a certificate but they can't really not approve your annual leave request.
