Holiday to Adelaide? Other suggestions?

My DH is taking me on holidays :) but we can't decide where to go. He is suggesting Adelaide, but what is there to do/see etc. We have a 19 month old, he'll be 21 months when we go in April. It is probably just for a week/ten days. We usually go to Noosa and stay at my in-laws holiday apartment. We have also been to Melbourne fairly recently (2009), the Gold Coast (2008), Thailand, Hong Kong and New Zealand - all before ds was born.

So my point....is Adelaide a good holiday spot, if so, why? OR, where else do you suggest. We would fly and hire a car, stay in an apartment/cabin etc.

We're going in two weeks to Adelaide! We're staying near Glenelg. We've never been before (to Adelaide city, I've been to Kangaroo Island and Victor Harbour). We're going for five days, a couple of those will be on the beach, we're doing a day trip to the Barossa Valley and going to explore Adelaide itself.

We went in early January. We thought it was a great holiday spot....but we do live in Alice Springs, so anything with more that 10 proper shops is exciting to us lol.

We went to the Adelaide Zoo, and Monarto Zoo which the kids loved. We also went to the Giant Rocking Horse and of course Glenelg Beach. The Giant Rocking Horse had a neat Toy Factory/Shop and an enclosed petting zoo type thingo.

I also took myself to Haigs Chocolate Factory that is to die for (you can do a tour).

There is so much to do in Adelaide.

Hahndorf is a gorgeous little German based town.
Giant Rocking Horse
Cleland Wildlife Park
You and DH would probably enjoy the unique experience of the Whispering Wall.
Of course there are the wineries if you are into that, and also the beaches such as Victor which is a bit of a drive from Adelaide, or Glenelg which is much closer to the city.

If you google what to do in Adelaide, it will give you our tourist websites with a load more possibilities.

Thanks everyone, Im still undecided. We live near shops, beaches and wineries so they aren't really an attraction iykwim. I'll have to do some googling.
