Paint lost its tint?

I have a tin of paint that has been sitting around for a few months. When i opened it, it had a skin across the top so air must have got into the tin. I moved the skin across and stirred the paint but the colour is now lighter (looks white) than the original colour. Could all the tint have gone into the skin?

I have had skins form before but the paint didn't change colour.

Any ideas on how to fix it? It is a different room i am painting but i want the colour to be at least close to the original.

Put the lid back on and shake the living day lights out of it..

Our pain is called China white and it always looks heaps whiter then it does on the walls. After you have shaken it re stir it..

then maybe paint a small section or even a spare piece of wood let it dry and hold it up against the walls you have already painted

I stuffed up. it was a different tin to the one i thought it was :redface:.

i have a bad cold :cold: and didn't even realise it wasn't water based :duh:!

so, everything's fine. please ignore the first post now.

You should always give paint a really good stir, or if all else fails go to a hardware shop or paint shop and get them to put it on the shaking machine.
