Zofran - Who will presc it in Eastern Melb?
Hi all,
I'm having a real problem finding a GP/OB/Anyone to prescribe Zofran for my morning sickness.
I know some boards don't list practitioner's listed, so a PM would be great.
Summary:
I've been into hospital for dehydration twice now, been to my GP, everyone just seems to be brushing me off.
Maxalon isn't working at all. Also taking 6.25mg Restavit was not stopping my nausea and vomiting. First-generation antihistamines are making me sleep so much that I'm hardly awake enough to eat anyway, alongside all the other side effects - anxiety, restlessness, panic, etc.
Detail:
The first time I went to the ER they gave me 2L I.V. fluids, zofran I.V. injection and sent me off with a PBS prescription of four zofran wafers after a few hours.
Then to get more of the only stuff that seems to be working I headed to my GP, but she said I wouldn't ever be able to get 4 zofran at a time and was reluctant to prescribe it to me any at all.
My second trip to the ER I ended up staying overnight, had a great Dr on the night shift who gave me 3L of I.V. fluids and a zofran injection - she was willing to give me repeats of zofran. But the morning Dr was terrible, rude and arrogant. They found ketones in my urine even after all the fluids, gave me another litre (4L in total) and another zofran injection in the morning.
He made me really panic by telling me that the ketones would create a really nasty environment for the baby but refused to give me a zofran prescription and told me that I shouldn't even be in the ER and not to come back. Puzzling and contradictory, as he was insisting I stay due to all the issues to do with me being dehydrated and starving my body of nutrients.
Upon giving me a prescription of sedating antihistamines he told me, in his words, "Take this s**t, this s**t, and this s**t." How this guy has a job in an ER I have no idea.
(Doxylamine [Resavit], Phenergan [Promethazine], and a few other similars)
24 hours after getting home from hospital and taking the prescribed meds I've been awake for at most three of those and feeling the other side effects when I am awake.
So... if anyone could please PM details of anyone who will prescribe zofran to someone who has tried everything else and is at her wit's end, I'd be really grateful!
