lump on breast.. having a run of badluck (just had a m/c too)

I have been going through a bit of a rough patch ever since the m/c of our baby. I found a lump on my breast. Had a mammogram and u/s on friday. Things weren't good. Had to take a biopsy. Get results on Wednesday . Please pray for me. I Am so scared. Having a bad run lately. Ever since november when I had my cone biopsy for my cervix and then the loss of our baby (3rd m/c)

The lump I found there are abnormal cells... they also found two other lumps on the same breast (right side). The lump I found was 7cm (WTF) and all because I don't ever check... I think they took 3 biopsy's from the one lump only which he showed me on the screen with all the lovely colours....Please ladies check your breasts!

Life is so unfair sometimes! I don't smoke, I rarely drink, am about to turn 36 next month, I am far too young for this to be happening.

I only m/c my baby 2 weeks ago tomorrow... this is really taking it's toll on me, esp all this waiting... waiting to m/c... waiting or results...

I have such a bad feeling.... I soooooo hope I am wrong! I am not sure how to get these horrible thoughts out of my head... I am not so worried about me as I am for my boys growing up without there mother...

I want another baby too... if I have chemo I am thinking this is unlikely... couldn't care less about loosing my boob thou... ohhh the emotions, how do you handle them, I just feel so overwhelmed with everything that has happened and the m/c of my baby still being so raw too!

I had a lump when I was 16 and went through alot of tests and waiting for news. It's a scary time.

Shereejoy, I had treatment for breast cancer and lymphoma in 2009. Trust me when I say this part - waiting for all the results etc - is the worst part of all :hug: so do whatever you need to distract yourself. Try not to get ahead of yourself, even if the cells are abnormal they may not be cancerous, and they may not even be abnormal. The vast majority of women who are treated for breast cancer survive, and measures can be taken to preserve your fertility.

I am so sorry for your loss, what a terrible heartrending time you are having. I really hope your results come back ok. Let us know how you get on. xxx

Hi Marydean - thank you for sharing your story... it is exactly what I needed to hear to get thru this... I know no-one that has been thru this so your advice is very encouraging thank you.... Did you have your children before or after? I am so sorry you had to go through this as well... How old are you?

Shereejoy, I was 37 when diagnosed. I have 2 DDs, and my lump (which was very large, they excised 7cm and then another 4 cm of tumour from my breast) was disguised while I was pregnant & breastfeeding my youngest, who was 17 months old when the BC was diagnosed (very common for it to be hidden in younger women). I'm a member of a BC forum which has quite a few other young women with BC on it, and several of them have had babies after their treatment, there are several extra measures needed if this is a priority for you, and no guarantees of course, but the drs will do everything they can to help young women preserve their fertility.

As scary as it is right now, you will get through this, no matter what the results say on wednesday. xxx

I too was just pregnant... but just m/c, have no idea how long it has been there as I never check my breasts EVER! (big lesson learnt), I am hoping it hasn't been there since my last baby who is about to turn 3 :( The size of mine is making me wonder, as one of mine is also 7cm...

Can you tell me if me seeing all different colours on the screen means that it possible is cancer??? the dr just said to me that there is a definite mass of abnormal cells... what does this mean?

No family history of BC, although there is a family history (grandparents) with prostate and liver cancer, they think there's a genetic relationship but no one has worked out what the gene expression is yet. So until then, no family history LOL.

I don't know what you mean by the differnet colours, both my mammo and U/S were done on pretty old black & white (or green) type machines. I'm wondering if they've used one of those new fangledy thermothingammies on you (which the jury is still out on), or some type of digital compositing? Anyway, the reality is there is no way of knowing for sure until they have done a biopsy, and often the needle/core biopsy just shows there is or isn't something wrong, but not what. Many women get the all-clear from the biopsy, but if there is disease there, it takes a lumpectomy to get an actual diagnosis. So the dr was probably just indicating that there was an abnomality that needs further investigation. Some of the abnormalities that they investigate will turn out to be benign.

In my case, they knew there was a large tumour in my breast because I'd had a PET scan to work out where else there was lymphoma in my body, but even then they had to wait until the biopsy results came back before they could say it was any type of breast cancer (it could've been lymphoma), and even then they didn't know whether it was invasive or contained (had to wait until my lumpectomy results came in). So it's a slow process of going through the steps until you know more. It can be really tough waiting for those results, so look after yourself and do what you need to cope, ok? xxx

Marydean this was the u/s, my screen didn't show any colours but the senographers did and it was obviously only the affected area that the colours were showing.
