Maybe to start out have a look for nappy making kits. They have all the pieces you need to make one and you can get an idea of how they go together. Apart from that there are a heap of sites dedicated to cloth nappy making supplies so have a browse through google. Even if you find a nappy making kit and see what materials are listed hun

There is one called Fairy Fabrics that sell nappy making kits, and supplies for making nappies.

depends what kind of nappies you want to make

Darling Diapers have a nappy pattern you can buy and download and print out. Their pattern has front snap, side snap, velcro, turn and top stitched and surged nappies. Celtic Cloth also sell a pattern you can download and print out. You can google them both.

Materials.. Depends on what you want. AIO you'd need an outer fabric (say minky or fleece) a hidden layer of PUL or fleece and an inner fabric of microfleece or suede cloth(but because of suede cloth, some babies can react to it). There's a number of sites that sell fabrics just for nappy making. Wrigglebots, Fairy Fabrics and Nappies Covered are a few to name. Just google nappy making supplies and something will come up.
