Is this name too unique?
DH and I are thinking about the name Amalie (or Amalee). Using Sophie or Sophia as a middle name. I found it in a baby book and I love the sound of it - also we can use Milly as a nick name. The thing is, I'm not a fan of unique names or names that are spelt different just to be different. I don't want to have to spell it out all the time. So my question is, is Amalie a unique name or have people heard of it before or know anyone with this name? I don't know anyone with this name, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it used before in movies.

DH wanted to call our DD2 Amelie, i prefer it spelt Amelie over Amalie though

Yep, I know two babies called Amalie. And there is a movie titled the same. It's a French movie I think. I loved it and it's where I first heard the name, since then I think it has become more popular.
Hmm I think the movie is spelt like Olive says.

Yep. There us a little girl in our playgroup she always has people accidentally calling her Amelia

I prefer it spelt Amelie too, but agree that it's not too unique. It might be confused with Amelia though.

DH actually prefers the spelling Amelie.
It is just an idea, I'm really confused this time around with names. Last time we had DS's name chosen right from the beginning.
