Bali? Where did you stay?

I'm trying to go on holidays in May, when my JellyBean would have been due. I've never been to Bali and it sounds nice :) we went to Phuket for our honeymoon and I've been to Hong Kong. I like the idea of a relaxing holiday with some shopping :D :redface: . I'm getting overwhelmed with the choices I guess. So...if you've been
- did you like it?
- how old were your kids (ds will be 22 months)
- where did you stay and what did/didn't you like about it.
- I'm coeliac (gluten intolerant) will I survive :)
- any other tips

I loved Bali. I would go back in a heartbeat
As long as your ds doesn't drink the tap water I think he will love it. So many family orientated activities I.e waterbomb park, wildlife parks
We stayed at kuta beach lagoon. Was in the perfect spot if your main goal is to do some shopping :)
There are loads of western run and owned restaurants that will understand so you will survive

WOW Bali, Our Favourite place... we were married there too...

our last trip DS was 18 months and he did great. the locals love children and will look after them whilst you eat, though at first I was a little apprehensive they took him in the kitchen and played with him whilst we ate every night :)

the best place to be central to everything is Kuta with little way to travel, legion is great for kids and Nusa Dua though further ( and will cost you money to travel) is beautiful and family friendly too

Bali is a place for bargains, everything on the street is only worth a certain amount... if you plan to go and book it etc pm me and i will give you a list of what prices to pay and suggest some local places to eat, visit nearby

in Kuta thereis a water park, waterbom.... Its American and pricey but worth the day out :)
there is so much to see and do I'm sure if you choose to go , it will be the best holiday yet.... Better than Thailand :)

Thanks gals. I'm looking at the westin at Nuaa dua. It has a good deal for 10 nights (2200pp Inc flights and $1000AUD hotel credit for meals and drinks) I know it's a little way from kuta but i mainly want to chill (and make a baby) so hopefully it's good for that :)

I've been twice and I love it! Is recommend not staying in Kuta. You can travel into Kuta but stay somewhere like Nusa Dua, Legian or Jimbaran much nicer. Kuta is like Patong in Thailand, really busy & nice to visit but not to stay. Have a look at 'my Bali . Com' they're great, great prices, you'll get hotel vouchers for food etc & they will beat anyone for price, you'll also get your own driver who will take you anywhere & wait for you.
Ayana resort in Jimbaran bay is divine but again best price you'll get will be through my Bali.
I love Bali, you'll be fine food wise & if you get the $1000 hotel voucher you can eat most your meals at the resort.
I prefer Bali over Phuket!

Thanks babyluv, I've been looking on mybali, the resort you recommended looks awesome, it's definitely on my list :) my DH is keen for Fiji but I've heard it's more expensive for shopping and dining? I'm going to call the mybali peeps tomorrow :)
