Do you take a HPT every month when TTC?

Hey everyone,

I was just reading another thread where women were discussing whether they took a HPT just for the hell of it and it got me to wondering if there are many women here who are currently TTC or may already be PG and who take/took a HPT every month? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question as I'm fairly new on here but is it normal for a woman to take a HPT every month or do you usually wait for a missed AF before taking it?

I really really REALLY want to have a baby and after being recently disappointed in a very early M/C and knowing that we will continue to TTC do you think the thought of taking a HPT every month leading up to my next AF is a bit over-extreme?

My GP has pretty much warned me against taking a HPT when I suspect being PG again in the future and instead has advised for me to contact him straight away to have a BT done instead.

To tell you the truth I'm just impatient in general and I don't know if I could wait before taking a HPT!

Ummm you will find many POAS (pee on a stick) addicts in here who test waaaaay too early, because we are impatient. To answer your question some do some dont - I do :)

No, not all the time b/c I can usually tell when AF is coming, so I don't bother.

If I don't have any strong symptoms, I won't test. It's a good way to avoid disappointment.

Yeah that. I was too impatient for AF when trying for DD and tested a few days before AF generally.

I did for the first couple of months and now I don't bother. I can't stand the disappointment.

I figure the only way to tell if I might be pregnant is if AF doesn't show. That'd be symptom enough for me!

Before I got pregnant I was doing at least 2 a month.. even before AF was due!! The time I got my BFP (big fat positive) I wasn't due for another 3 days but got the faint second line!

SO I don't think it is over the top at all!!

Good luck sweets and hopefully you will get a BFP soon!!
