drain tube for cat- AGAIN!!

Frank is up to his old tricks again it seems!

I was just thinking last night how he hadn't been in a fight for ages, we've lived here for over a year now and I thought all the territories had been established between the neightbourhood cats. Then this morning I saw what looked like a burst abcess above his eye, took him to the vets and yep, another abcess!

The vet was poking all these massive forceps etc through it to find if there was another end to it and he was so good, didn't even squirm, she put a drain tube in and tied it up, so he looks like he has a bow on the side of his head. I just have to flush it once a day, that will be fun!!!

Last year we had a nightmare with him getting attacked and needing an op and 2 drain tubes, they drip all the serous fluid out and make a mess. Not to mention having to keep him inside for days which drives him and me batty. Although saying that he has already escaped outside lol.

So, here we go again, poor little man, he is always the victim cos he is such a wimp! :)

I think I love Frank. Ever since you wrote about him losing his voice. I sure do hope he's O.K.

Can you at least keep him locked him for the nights. We started locking our cat in overnight about 6 years ago after he almost died being attacked by a possum. We put his bed in the laundry and feed him his dinner in there at bedtime (witholding his food till later at night made sure he was hanging around) At first he hated it and scratched and meowed all night long and yes it was sooooo annoying but it was for his own good. After a couple of weeks he just accepted it and we haven't looked back since.

I know!,their curfew is sundown and the cat flap gets locked so they can't get out once they're in, but cos I work evening shifts sometimes, DH is a bit slack, and gets home late, so its a bit random about when they come in. I feel mean locking them in when I leave at 2pm esp in summer, but I did do that last year, have just slackened off a bit lately, they're OBSESSED with being outside and frank has been known to escape out of a locked catflap somehow lol.
He'll be fine thanks for your concern, he's not even off his food or anything, so probably got it early!

Poor little thing! I would definitely keep him in at night it you don't already as that is when most cat fights happen. If his bites are on his face he probably isn't too much of a wimp. The ones that run generally get it on the bum!
