What do BHs feel like?
I don't think I've ever experienced any before, but I don't know if maybe I am now? I kind of just feel tight and a bit crampy around the front of my bump, like all of it. It's not exactly painful, but pretty uncomfortable! Just wondering if this is BH?

I'm interested to know too! Once or twice this preg I've felt my belly and it's been hard, and it gets hard after I O ( ), and today I've had a cranky sensation...so I'm also unsure if I've had them/felt them.

My first ones felt like a fist does when closing... they started off painless for me, just noticeable and distracting enough... but as time has gone on, to a growing cramp, pain is slowly creeping in... but this is the first pregnancy that I have felt them so maybe I have no clue

Oh dear  Turns out mine was gas! :hide:
So... yeah. I'd still like to know though for future reference, lately my belly has felt harder, but until this arvo I haven't really felt any pains or anything so I'm wondering how I'll know what it is!

Your tummy muscles tighten hard like you are doing a sit-up ( get what I mean?) it sort of vibrates....the muscles and then stops and then goes again... I've had them all this week but with DS didn't have then until about 30 weeks

Yeah at M2R said.. your belly goes hard but in intervals IYKWIM. Yeah PZ, kinda like the same feeling of the ones you get after orgasm as when you orgasm your uterus contracts and can make your belly go hard and feel a little uncomfortable.

Ah thanks guys :) I get those strange feelings after I O too, at least I have something to compare it too!
Next question is, how different are the BHs to actual labour contractions?

Labour contractions HURT! lol BH arnt meant to be painful but can be a little uncomfortable. I also felt more period pain when having contractions aswell as my belly going hard.
-
duration of the tighten, consistency of their arrival & level of pain.... I think
-
Ok, so I'm not likely to confuse the two then  I think my mindset is just so much that having the baby won't hurt - I'm more afraid of needles and blood tests than labour - and I'm so excited about finally getting to the labour stage, I've somehow got myself thinking it won't be that painful

I went into labour the first time totally unaware of what I was in for, and afterwards had the greatest appreciation from what I learnt first hand rather than reading too much in books or asking for family members to fill me in on what to expect....
now I know what I'm in for but still excited :) You will know real contractions because they are stronger, more frequent and don't go away.... Also you will probably have a 'show' of your mucus plug around the time of real labour and your waters could break too.... Mine didn't though

Yeah real contractions will have a pattern (so every 10-15 mintues etc) and they wont go away when you sit down or walk around. I find BH dont have a pattern and you might have 3 in a hour then nothing for 6 hours. BH usually ease when you sit down and relax or for me, if you keep walking.
But at the end of the day, none of us can say what your BH or contractions will feel like, everyone is different but I hope we have given you abit more confidence in your body and mind :)
