Not sure if it will be shown on the East coast also, but in Perth tonight the parents of the little girl who suffered seizures, paralysis and coma after her flu shot last year will be sharing their story, plus some details about what has happened within the medical community since. Hopefully it will not be 'doctored' in any way. Pardon the pun...
They would like for as many people to know as possible so please spread the word.

I believe so Charlotte - I presume it will just be WA news too. Apparently channel 9 will post it on their website after it has screened - so stay tuned.

Thanks for the heads up JellyBean. I watched it and could cry for that poor family. Very, very sad. Part two on tomorrow night.
There is no way I would ever get a flu shot let alone let my kids get one. That poor family :shakehead:
I think tonight's part will just be the response from the WA Health Dep - "why it all went wrong and why this years flu shot will be different" was the tag line as I recall. :rolleyes:

Oh - and I wouldn't bet that the segment will be on the channel 9 website either. According to the family, all the articles that were written about their daughter have mysteriously disappeared.
A quick search led me to the listed webpage article "Flu Vaccine Destroys Baby Saba's Life" from News dot com dot au, dated 20th March (only 2 days old). Sure enough, when you click on the link - the article has been removed. They cite potential causes for this as:
There's an error in the address or link you have entered in your browser;
There's a technical issue and the page has not been properly published;
The article was removed to comply with a legal order;
It is an older article that has been removed from the site.
Wow. How insulting to dear little Saba & her family - treating them as though their experience never happened for fear of losing millions of dollars to an educated public. This is Australia, not China - we expect to have the freedom to be able to make informed desicions and are entitled to know about this story!!
Yeah it is. I know, I do wonder where the health department stands with that. I remember getting that letter from the health department (they piggy-backed off the medicare register) urging parents to get their little ones vaccinated. I didn't do it, but when all this stuff happened I remember thinking how peeved I'd be if I had and something went wrong. It wasn't like it was just a media campaign with posters - the government specifically targeted a demographic and gave what I would call medical advice.
Just last week we had medical people from Westmead childrens hospital come to our CC urging parents to get their children to trial this new safe vaccine for the flu shot! I DONT THINK SO!
Mmmm:shakehead:. How can they call it safe when it has not yet been trialled in infants or children? Who wishes to submit their child to be a guinea pig like that? The problem is (as put by the wonderful Meryl Dorey) that pharma prefers to consider their drugs safe until proven otherwise, whereas they really need to be considered unsafe until proven otherwise. 'Proceed with caution' would be a sensible approach to any new drug that has not and cannot be tested on human beings.

No health professional will claim that a vaccine is safe and yearly vaccines cannot be trialled because they would be late and useless.:
A friend of mines child was almost killed by a flu-vax, unfortunately it happens and it is very unfortunate.
If the CH9 article was at all balanced it would interview the parents of the children killed by the flu a few years ago that caused the public push to have babies flu vaccinated.
Edited: There was nothing "wrong" with the batch, the chances of these reactions were just slightly higher than the ones published on the information pamphlet given to parents before vaccination of their babies.
