What is the earliest I can go for scan?

Hi. I am currently 16 week pg and was wondering what's the earliest I can go for my 20 wk scan? I want to make sure everything is ok with bubs so is 17 wks too early to see heart and other organs to check development?

They recommend the scan is done 18-21 weeks.

It's recommended at 18-22 weeks, with 20 weeks being the optimal time.
By going early you do risk the chance of not being able to see things as they are not fully developed.

I was a little panicky and eager for my 20 weeks scan with DD - my gp said that waiting until 21 weeks would give them a better view of everything.
I really just wanted to know the sex lol - not that it was any good waiting the extra week because little miss didn't want us to know what she was lol

I went for mine at 18 weeks but had to go back in at 21 weeks to get the heart and spine re checked as it was too early the first time.

zap i was booked in at 19 weeks and doc made me push it back to 21 weeks :)

yeh i think they usually want you to go between 18-20 weeks so they might say 17 weeks is too early. is there a reason you're scared? or are you just the normal freaked out? Lol. i know it sounds like a hard thing, but try not to stress too much, everything will probably be fine.

Thanks ladies I am just impatient! Doc said no earlier than the 8th of April which will make me 19wks. I have my midwife app a couple of days after that so it will have to be around 19wks then!

Hey Zap, I was cheeky and booked in for a 4d scan at a place called precious previews. They told me 19 weeks up but I changed it to 18th week. It is possible at 18 weeks so I would say something to your doc if it is a concern for you hunny.
