Dermaveen for Eczema. Did it make it worse?

DD2 had an eczema breakout last week but wasn't too bad. I've only been using Advanten for bad flare ups and Sorbolene to keep her skin moist. Anyway I had a read of other threads on here to see what others use and when I went to the chemist they recommended Dermaveen because of the oatmeal properties etc and I read good things so got it.

DD2 was breaking out in a rash at bathtime so I stopped using the soap free bath wash stuff and started with Demaveen in the bath and then Dermaveen cream. Problem is that her eczema is worse than ever and the poor little thing is up scratching through the night. I lather on Sorbolene through the night to keep her skin a bit more moist.

I'm wondering also if she has had a reaction to the watering can (small one from sprout) that they have been playing with in the bath recently. I have taken it out to see if that helps at bathtime.

Has anyone else had a reaction to Dermaveen like this? Her whole tummy, back of legs, bottom, lower part of back and chin is covered in red itchy looking rash. I feel so helpless when she is suffering.

Try goats milk soap. Its the ONLY thing that works here.

With Dermaveen & all those products, even if they say they are ok for eczema, they really need to say safe for babies on them.

I use olive oil only for moisture in her skin. I tried some sorbelene & an aloevera gel & they stung her :(
I use no bath products at all, except the goats mils soap during a break out & no washing powders in with any of her clothes or nappies.

It is very possible that it has made is worse. Everyone reacts to different things in different ways.

I recommend the goats milk soap as well, I haven't tried dermaveen but eczema is such a trial and error problem.

Steph used to get eczema (mainly behind the knees and sometimes on the wrists/inner elbow), and I would use the dermaveen cream (relatively lightly) after a bath with QV oil (sorry, no bubbles). She didn't react adversely to the dermaveen or qv, and her eczema would usually be cleared in a few days of this treatment.

For really red raw eczema, I would use (very sparingly) cortisone cream. I'm sorry I can't remember what it is called, but you can ask for it at the chemist over the counter (well, it was last time I spoke to them). Once daily as required only. As soon as the eczema would settle down again to just being red, I would stop using the cortisone cream and return to dermaveen until gone. I don't know how old your DD2 is, but you may want to have a talk to the chemist about it.

I can't use Dermaveen anything on mine.

Didn't work here either, didn't make it worse but not better either. We use MooGoo MSM cream when they are really bad and QV to maintain. Gaia in the bath for a few bubbles if their skin isn't too inflamed. Good luck, I found it is trial and error to find what works. xoxo

Drmaveen kills my skin...made it worse.

Same with Gaia.

The only thing we have found with DD's Ezcema is Dermeze...which is basically a parafin mix developed by a children's hospital. It's dead cheap too (from a pharmacy). It's greasy but works a dream.

I put Advanten on the eczema last night because it was really bad. This morning it looked great and hardly red at all and then come bath time, bright red rash again all over her bum and back of legs. It has nasty looking pimply things too. Hmmmm, I am clueless as to what can be causing it.

I have goats milk soap so will give that whirl when it settles down.

my niece has found goats milk soap to be the best for her and she gets it really badly - dermaveen doesn't work here for my little ones (not that they have it real bad - but it obvioulsy makes it much worse than doing nothing.
