How do you keep their pants up?

ahhhh I am so frustrated right now, i just brought my DD some new clothes because her old pants are too short for her yet fit perfectly in the waist, before when she was in nappies the nappy helped to keep her pants up but now she is in knickers her pants are too big in the waist.

Apart from buying her clothes with adjustable waist, which are most of the time not budget friendly, how can I keep her pants up, and please dont say belts because they dont go well with her taking herself to the toilet and dont say suspenders because they are terrible.

Is there a product out there that I dont know about.

Target sells adjustable waist pants that aren't too expensive :).

When all else fails (my DD has a skinny waist), I roll her pants over at the waistband, it's the only thing that works for us!

With my eldest son I opt for overalls, much easier :lol:

Do you know someone who can take in the waistbands at all?

As a mum with a kid who's in 7's for length and 2-3 for knickers I totally understand the frustration!
Sadly the only thing I've found is adjustable waists. Target tights/leggings are fairly slim fitting and seem to be ok. Often she wears tights and dresses, and also I have put simple darts in the tops of her pants.

I fold the waist over. DS still needs size 1 pants for the waist, but they're too short now...
Some pants I bought 2nd hand I sewed extra elastic in to make them tighter.

I am another one who has dd in leggings, she is tall and has no bum so everything falls down. In winter I put her in stockings to add a bit of padding. Tie waists are great in tracksuits but this season they are fake ties.

Thanks for all the suggestions man I wish I could sew, do you think if I got a friend to make some mini bands, like the belly bands you can wear when you preg, but mini ones so that they keep the top of the pants tight but then she can still take herself to the toilet. Of course I would have to adjust it again for her but I dont really want to go get all her pants adjusted when they dont wear them for all that long. Off to target I go I think.

Salad - you can hand sew, right? Just sew some elastic in by hand like you would sew on a button. Use a longer piece of elastic and stretch it right out, then just shorten it to less stretch as she gets older. You can even buy the button-hole elastic from places like lindcraft / spotlight (not sure about kmart) and put a button in to make it easier.

Yeah, I toss it at my DH and ask him to put new elastic in it. Just need an elastic threader, some elastic and a little bit of spare time. Least stressful way of the lot. I've tried everything else and it is the only one that I will promise won't send you completely crazy by 6pm.

But you are welcome to join me in an evil email campaign to the producers on how ridiculous they make the waist sizes! =)

I shop for pants pretty cheaply at all the big chain cheapy shops like Kmart, Target, Best and Less, Big W and only buy ones with an adjustable elastic waist. On a few skirts that DD has I have just tacked a bit in temporarily so that as she gets bigger it can just be cut off easily.

I am such a dill I dont know why I didnt get her ones with adjustable waists, I guess the distraction of two kiddies does it to you. Thanks for the advice honestly the only sewing I can do it hemming by hand and thats not perfect lol
