Hey everyone,
My DD is 11.5 months old and in the last few days she has started throwing the BIGGEST tantrums....is this normal for her age? I didn't think she would get like this until at least 18 months (was i in complete denial!). What do you do when they are doing this? i would have thought the time out concept was for when they are older??? ahhh...what is happening!!! :o
Yep I thought it happened closer to 2 as well. Nope not in this household! DD started around the same time, and has the most hilarious crying/tantrum face, and she even peeks out one eye to see if you're watching! We tend to ignore it if we have been watching enough to know it is a tanty and not a bump/hurt etc and she stops quite quickly. Or I'll just engage her in something else and she stops quickly then too. Cheeky little monkeys ;)
o glad it not just me! hahahaha definitely cheeky little monkeys! So i have a lot to look forward to then! at least she is not the only one!
I have 2 DDs who were very tantrumly advanced and also started at 11m. Fortunately I think the earlier they start, the earlier they stop as DD2 has just turned 2 and is really starting to wind it down on the tantrum front. She seems to have fewer than other kids her age now.
Totally normal hun! The toddler age hits rather suddenly, doesn't it?? I was not ready for a toddler at that age either, I had just got a handle on the baby thing! :)
Yep! I have a very strong willed (read: stubborn, pig headed) DD who will be 1 this week. It was cute for, ummmm, the first five seconds!
She can really bung it on and I've found either distracting her with something else (but not bowing to her requirement!) or simply walking away and leaving her works for us.
I always try distraction first but if I'm frustrated or know I'm going to get cross at her, I just walk away and listen out to make sure she stops.
All fun and games hey??
Yeah, at this age distraction is often still quite effective.
Is she hungry? DS would get very cranky at times and it was about that age that I discovered quite by accident that it was because he was hungry.
i hadn't thought about her being hungry! quite possibly as it is usually around nap time (so obviously tired as well) that she cracks it but she has started to cut down her bottles and has completely cut out her afternoon bottle so could def be hungry...thanks!
My dd just cracked it.... Her first, I'm guessing of many! She was shirty for not opening a cupboard for her so she proceeded to faceplant into the carpet in protest! Quite entertaining!!
