moisture, mouse and possible mould.....

ok first up: the past week, we have had a mouse problem, it started only being at the heater dissapearing out the hole the tv areal plugs into, then at night would sit on the aircon Watching us watch tv:o
df pluged up the holes, there is no visibility of it coming back threw there, didnt see it for a few days... but its back, it has found its way back in i have seen it run from the laundry to under the fridge 3 times in 2 days, i found "evidence" of it being on dd's clothes drawers *shudder* and thhe boys just saw it, chased it under the door of the linnen cuboard. they have pulled everything out looking for it :rolleyes: and screamed the house down after hearing it squeak:o ive been trying to find traps, but no luck seems every one is soild out:shakehead: having 4 young kids and a dog we cant put bait down:protest:

seccond: there is moisture building up in the kids rooms, i had a green shopping bag full of baby beanies and mittens in the girls room, i went to get a beanie out of it today for bub, and they were WET!:o they were perfectly fine when i put them in there last week, and they were right near allyssas bed, no wonder she prefers sleeping with me! theres been nothing in the kids rooms at all to have caused it, DF said that means they were about to start moulding over and its from the vents in the walls being blocked or old.. something.

Third, we went to flip our matress over, and the underside of it is damp and has a slight pong to it :sick: *shudder again* have added a new one to the list of things to buy asap, just dont want it to happen to the new one...

now im not the worlds tidiest person, our house is by no way filthy, cluttered and toys spread here to there, yeah, dirty no. but this is just discusting

AGGHHH this is not cool!! any ideas how i can beat these problems?
ive already gone threw and donated 4 bags worth of stuff i had for the boys to grow into, better get rid of it now to someone who needs it than chance it going mouldy.

Please dont take it as a personal reflection on you as it seems that there are some massive mice plagues all over the country at the moment. Here in Sydney we are having the same problems.

We also get a mould problem sometimes as well due to having a very damp house. I know its not ideal but i do a big bleach clean of any areas that are more prone to it every couple of months. We normally get it on our windows and surrounds during the colder months from the mildew and moisture that builds up on them.

There are hippo boxes from woollies & dehumidifiers you can get for mould & moisture. Its shocking here too.
I use rat sak under my fridge, or where ever the mice like to hide. Thinking about getting a kitten this winter... will see how they go!

I'm sorry. But your mouse problem had me in tears of laughter. Especially it's little squeak making your kidlets squeal XD

My mum had an awesome mouse problem when we were kids. It drove her nuts. Especially as she is also very house proud and the place was always spotless. Anyway... She ended up buying a cat. That fixed them up well and proper. She hasn't see any since. The cat is pushing ten almost and she hates him (he's a blue russian... I think the more arrogant of the cat world!) , but declares she hates mice more XD
As for the mould... To get ride of it you could spray some selleys mould killer stuff where it is on any surface? Then keep it away with the absorb things a PP mentioned?

Clove oil helps with mould too.

Mice...sadly it's probably not just one babe. But I hear ya! Gah I'm so over mice! Yesterday two exploded on me after being caught in traps (it's still really hot here), then I caught one in a tea towel and put him outside, then this morning I've been chasing another one, and picked up two deceaseds in the back yard. I have a body bag in the freezer so they don't smell. I used to put my freshies out for the whistling hawk nested in the back yard, but the problem's so bad here that everyone (else) is using poison and I don't want to risk it for her and her babies.

have only noticed the mouse/mice (:oEEP!) since they mowed the park up the road, was almost chest high grass and muddy, yuck!
sadly however, we can not get a cat to eat the mouse, the dog would eat the cat first :/ unfortunatly for us she didnt inherit her mums great mouse hunter abilities:shakehead:

good news tho, ive been clearing out alot of things and only keeping what we need and use everyday!

:happydance: now we see if there is one or more..... i take back what i said about trouble. she just got the f$$ker!! its now severly messed up, in a jar inside the bin:happydance: OH YEAH!!

now i have a overly cokcy dog walking round like her shait dont stank!!!
