and suffered side effects?????
My DS broke out in spots all over his body, twice!! The Dr thought it wasn't the EM the first time  So he can no longer have it.
Can't remember if that's the one that gives my kids the runs? Or it may be ABs in general. Is Erythromycin prescribed for ear infections or tonsillitis? That's what my girls have had ABs for in the past, just don't remember what type of ABs they were...
ETA: Nah, sorry, I think it was Amoxil that gave them the runs.
My DD has got the runs every time she has had it. :(
Not child but DH had an allergic reaction, rash etc
my DH is allergic to it, throat closes over, and if i have it i get the vomits, both of us have had these reactions since we were children
thanks all, she seemed to be having other side effects.. not 100% sure though, will keep an eye on her.
Olive, i can't remember what happened when i had it as a kid (my parents had a "it's doing more good than harm" attitude) but a few years back i was given it again and had a nasty reaction. i was really sick, so not sure how much was from the Ab and how much was that - but i was an emotional wreck, and ended up losing consciousness when i tried to get out of bed. Ended up in hospital and Ab's were swapped. They can't confirm what happened, but suggested a sensitivity to it and that i should tell hospitals/GPs i'm allergic to it, just in case
I get cold and sweaty and throw up on it. Sometimes it gave me a rash too.
My dh and my eldest have both had reactions.. but DS and DH no longer have reactions..
Both my boys have it (think it's an alternative to penicillin, isn't it? DS1 is possibly allergic to penicillin, so they give both EM -I think the name of the antibiotic they get is Bactrim).
Neither has had any side effects though.
DD is currently having EES (one of those E's stands for Erythromycin), she has had looser stools but that is it. She has been on it for 2 days now and is on a stronger dose
I had it once when I was a baby and had a server allergic reaction to it
DS and I were on it last year (I think it was late september, I was 16wks preg with DD anyway) when hubby got whooping cough. Only thing I noticed was that DS was more unsettled than normal, and both of us had the runs while on it. But we both had the flu pretty bad at the time too, so it could have been from that and not the EM
we have never had it but my friends DD had it for tonsilitis and ended up in hospital vomitting blood!
SoI wouldnt be too keen to take it if it were prescribed. I think I would prefer an alternative
