Garage Doors - to window or not to window?

We are enclosing our carport and having an automatic double door installed. I can't decide if I want windows or not. Not arched or decorative ones, just plain rectangle across the top. The rep showed me a pic and it looked nice and neat and pretty modern, but the more I check out other houses the more I'm unsure if we should just have no windows at all. The door colour will be paperbark, a lighter colour door. Our house was built in the early 80's and just looks like a standard brick and tile house.

I realise how lucky I am that this is my biggest dilemma in life at the moment! What do you think?

I went for windowless.
Like you though, I did find it actually a decision that required some thought! :rofl:

But in the end, I decided that I wanted the privacy, the security, I didn't want someone to be able to just look to see if the car was there, or DHs tools etc and the things we store in the garage.

They look ok, but then I thought: "Meh, that is just one more lot of windows I will have to clean. Screw that!" :P

Would the windows let in much light? If you are using the carport for more than parking the cars it could be useful not to have to turn on a light each time you want to get something out of the garage. But agree with the cleaning and the security. Would think that windowless would also be cheaper.

We had a garage door installed a couple of years ago and we went with the windows. They suit the house (mid-80's also), but if I was to do it again I wouldn't bother with the windows. I think the doors look more modern without windows.

We're actually only closing in 2 sides so security wise someone could just walk round the corner rather than bother looking through the windows, which solves the light theory too, but that's a really valid point Saffi. Windows aren't any extra cost either which is a bonus if you want them.

Laranna I'm thinking I agree, no windows looks a little more modern I think.

I can't wait to have my windowless automatic garage door woohoo! To not be able to tell when we're out or not at a glance will make us feel much more secure.
