Im a bit confused, as it's not legal for you employer to not withold tax.
It depends on what your total income will be for the financial year whether you will owe $
You should have been paying tax at both of them, you just don't claim the tax free threshold..
Or, do you mean you aren't calming the tax free threshold at either of the jobs -- if thats the case your paying tax and too much
When i started working at the older job, i claimed the tax free because i was already paying tax on another job which i have now resigned from.
In the new job i thought i ticked the 'pay tax' box but i musnt have if im not getting tax taken out?
I dont know :/
That's the tax free threshold I think - you'd still be paying tax, but you have to get to a certain pay bracket first. Let your employer know you're only working one job now, you'll probably have to fill in another tax file number declaration, and then just give the ATO a call. I don't think you'd owe a huge amount, but the ATO will be able to tell you for sure
I agree it sounds like the tax free threshold, which you can only claim for one job.
If you have not claimed the tax free threshold you should be paying too much tax, not too little.
For them to not be taking any tax out at all is a mistake on your employers part -- there is no option to you to choose not to pay it
Check with your employer and, if they have made a mistake with your tax, check they are paying your super too!
