Is it ok to eat Cottage cheese?
It is a "soft" cheese, but I would eat it.
It is up to you.
I know philly is ok, but not sure on cottage cheese...I'd probably eat it if it was just out of the fridge and bought fresh, but not if it had been sitting for a bit..
I think I did... But a freshly opened tub...
Apparently fetta is nO-go, but I ate heaps of that!
i think with most soft cheese, they say to avoid when pregnant because of the chance of listeria, or something....and eat it fresh if you were going to eat it. My brother did say to me the other day though that in other countries (like Europe, etc) they don't pasteurise the milk before turning it into cheese, whereas they do over here. so apparently its a lot safer to eat those things while pregnant.....:dunno:
It's a hard one, i was having a serious craving and bought some while shopping this morning.
acoording to NSW food authority its fine, so long as its a fresh unexpired packet, paturised, and you store it in the fridge, and consumer within 2 days
