Things to do in Brisbane with kids

Hi All,

I would love some ideas of things to do with our DD in Brisbane. We will be there for almost a week, staying with friends (who don't have kids and will be working during the day) on the southside and will have our own car.

So far we are thinking a trip on the city cat, a day at southbank/museum/sciencentre, day trip to the gold coast. I am open to all ideas, especially if you have a suggestion of an awesome park to go to :D

Check out Gold Coast City council for Holiday activity ideas. If the weather is good try Redcliffe. It has a lovely outdoor waterplay area. New Farm Park is great. I also think there is a water play park at Sinnon Park too

Mummasue - we went to lone pine 6 months ago with dd and she absolutely loved it! Especially feeding the birds and the kangaroos :) mt cootha is also on my list, I was thinking we could drive up after dinner and get an icecream whilst looking at the city lights. We live in the county and dd gets excited about traffic lights so it would be pretty exciting for her. In fact we could probably just drive around the city all day and she'd be happy

Anyone been to the train museum in ipswich? There are a few things we've thought of that can probably wait til she's older, especially being so busy with school holidays on at the moment

I've heard the train museum is awesome! I've never been but live in the Ippy area and hang out with loads of mummies from there. They all rave about it.

If you're in the Ipswich area too - Queens Park is GORGEOUS! And has a little zoo area that is free to walk around - animals like kangaroos, lizards, barn animals, it's gorgeous. Also has a great play area too and BBQ facilities.

I'm trying to think of other things to do :D I'll be back with more.

Did you want to go swimming at all? If so, Bundamba swimming pool is FANTASTIC (just heading into Ipswich). They have this new kids pool area with water fountains and a little whirl pool thing. It's really great. We go there with our play group all the time and because it's a council pool, it's only $4 for an adult to get in :)

There is a FB page called brisbanekids. and has everything you can think of doing with kids in Brissy!!

GOMA - The Gallery of Modern Art always has awesome childrens programs during school holidays!

They create, paint, build all sorts of lovely things.

Heaps of fun for the little ones!

We are going to the train museum next week.. Thomas is back since he got flooded out in January.

Mummasue - sounds like there is enough to keep us busy for a few days in Ipswich. I am bringing my togs but was only planning on using them at the day spa that I'm going to with my girlfriends ;) and maybe if we go to the beach.

I think we'll leave the train museum for next time. Doing my best - Let me know how it goes after you go next week.

Deedles - That website is really good, thanks! It has pretty much exactly what I am looking for and I had no idea that it existed.

Kimmi - I checked out the GOMA website, I didn't know that they had a children's art centre but it sounds pretty good and I think we'll take DD for a look. I think it's been almost 10 years since the last time I went there

Yeah I think that there are a few sites with different activities. I just found this one also. Seems pretty cool!
Its called Kidding about Town on FB and they have a blog page also. I am sure you will have loads of things to do lol.
