10.5 week old - no poo for about 2-3 days and very unsettled and clingy?

Hi All!

Sorry in advance if this is all over the place, I'm just rather confused and after some advice!! :/

My 10.5 week old DD hasnt pooed in around 2-3 days, while I know it can be normal with fully BF babies, at what age? I'm just worried she's not getting enough? She is weeing still, has around 4 heavy wet nappies each day, and is farting still and they're usually smelly too if that helps?

She has also in the past couple days become very unsettled (last night she was waking every 2hrs or so! - this coming from a baby that usually sleeps a 6-7hr stretch at a time, then another 3-4hr one afterward! And has done since about 3-4 weeks old!)
Not Only that, she's very whingy, she really doesnt want to be with anyone but me (which isn't so nice after constantly waking to her last night!)

And she also isn't feeding as usual! She usually feeds fairly quickly anyway, (as in, around 10minutes and she's done) but now she's barely feeding 5, and will only be maybe 2-3 minutes each side! She will constantly pull herself off and cry, and it doesn't change after burps either!

I'm not sure if PERHAPS maybe she's teething? Or having a growth spurt? I know in the last 2 weeks she's grown 3cm, and is now back to the 50th percentile, but her weight is between the 25th and 50th.. She's also been drooling alot lately too...

Hope, they change all the time. Just when you think things are going good, they pull a shifty and you're suddenly sittin gup all night feeding and rocking.
Fewer poos is certainly normal at this age, so wet nappies are a better indicator. Sounds like she's growing very well, so I doubt there's any problem with her intake.
If she's done, she's done, just let her go. 2-3 minutes is long enough for many babies, even at this age. Don't push it you'll just upset her :)
My DD went through a similar 'phase' a month or so back. She had been sleeping well, then suddenly she was up every 1-2 hours and wouldn't let anyone else touch her. This will pass in time :hug:

Hi hun, sorry I couldn't read and not post. I'm not sure what is causing your DD to behave the way she does lately, but when my DS was little he used to go thorough many stages of refusing to eat, other times he's wake up more during the night (he's always been a great sleeper) etc, but then he'd come good again. I'm sure she's getting enough food as if she's hungry she'll let you know right? and I think she's too little for teething...so my guess is, it's a stage she's going through (I used to always think it's a growth spurt for my DS!). Hope she comes good for you hun, don't worry they are all over the shop sometimes when they're that small but they do bounce back! And I have heard that b/f babies can go up to 10 days without poo. Sometimes longer :o

That's the thing? She keeps searching for it and seems hungry?

She had a good feed last night, but I had to use the shield for half of it, I've noticed when she's REALLY tired she won't feed properly, and she slept crappy that night and barely slept during the day, so I think it figures? :dunno:

After that feed I didn't need the shield again til this arvo, but she just won't sleep for more than like 20-30mins during the day! And will barely do that twice!

Is that normal?! I'm thinking the fact she's refusing to sleep as much is a factor as to how she's feeding badly? Because if she seemed full it wouldn't bother me, but she doesn't? She seems still hungry but will go on, come off, etc.

Gotta love parenting sometimes... I think my baby manual was lost in the post!

Hun, my DS would sleep anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes (1 hour AT MOST) once a day usually, and I'd be extremely lucky if he slept again in the afternoon, and if he did, it would be around 30 minutes. So while he was always an excellent night sleeper, during the day it was a different story. Sometimes I'd be tearing my hair out cos he'd only sleep for 30 minutes ALL DAY and I had work to do. Hellooooooooooooooooo!! Who is gonna do your washing bubba?????!!!! So yes, some bubbas are just like that. Then when he was a lot more mobile around 8 months, he slept for up to 2 hours again only once a day, and it was GREAT!!!!!!! Now at 13 months old, he only sleeps 1 to 1.5 hours ONCE a day again, and when he wants the second nap at around 4.30-5 o'clock, and I give it to him, he won't go to bed till 9 pm. So I make him stay up ;) and he's in bed by 7.30.

Unfortunately some babies are catnappers. It sucks. Sometiems they just grow out of it, sometimes they don't.
Soem babies also dont' feed well (if at all) if they're very tired. You need to try just as she's waking up (even if it's only a 20 min nap).
The on and off fussing could be any number of things - any illness around? Just a fussy stage. Who knows? Watch the wet nappies, that will tell you whether she's getting enough milk. The poo will come in time and it might be a big one :)
Do you use a sling or carrier at all? It doesn't really work for my DD, but my DS got some decent sleep at this age in the hug a bub (wouldn't sleepmroe than 15 minutes most days otherwise)

We have poo!!! :dance: a pretty nasty one, but not quite as bad as what we were expecting, bad enough that she needed a bath though! :lol:

She even has been sleeping and feeding better too! It must've been a wonder week? :/ she's even not as clingy anymore, she even let DH hold and play with her while I made breakfast and again so I could play guitar hero!

Its pretty much an overnight change! How odd? :/

Sounds like a wonder week (week 12 give or take a couple either side).

FWIW my DD used to go for about 5-7 days without a poo. And when she finally did one, wow they were awesome! :D
