Dating scan results???

Hi ladies,

Apologies if there's been a million posts like this before. I was tracking when i ovulated with Fertility Friend and finally got a BFP a couple of weeks ago, when i calculated I would have been approx 5weeks (according to when FF said I O'd). As my periods weren't regular i was referred for a dating scan, had that yesterday when i thought I'd be 7wks & 1 day, however the dating scan showed a tiny gestational sac, and they said i was only 5wks & 3 days. I'm going back for another scan in 2 wks time, but i'm worried i have a missed m/c as I didn't think it would be possible to get a BFP at 3 wks? Plus, i would essentially have had to conceive whilst i was away o'seas with my mum & sister for a holiday (no DH)?? Has anyone else had dating scan results similar & was their bub OK? (feeling paranoid here)...

congrats on your pregnancy. Dating scans can be a little off when the baby is so tiny. Even a slight mm measurement can put you out a week. My dating scan was out by 5 days (from when i thought i o'ed) and if i went by their dates i would have got a bfp at 7dpo too - highly unlikely lol. My nt scan was consistant with my dates. I know it will be a nervous 2 weeks no matter what anyone else says but i'm sure its all good and you'll get a better picture of whats happening then :)

Mine was the similar when i went to i thought and am sure i was 9 weeks and the sac measured 7 weeks 5 days, i have my next scan in 2 weeks but im 100% positive of the date we concieved.
My OB wasnt too concerned as she said it happens often, so try not too worry.

I did my first test at three weeks and 3 days and it came back as a very faint positive, which got darker as I did tests in later days. When I had my twelve week scan, they moved my due date by four days, which would have meant my test showed positive at two weeks and 6 days. Considering I'd not had intercourse for over a week, I highly doubt the scan dates are correct. I'm still going with my due date next Tuesday, the hospital is working on Friday. At least it gives me another 4 days to be overdue before they talk induction.

Both pregnancies, my dating scans were 11 days out. Both my girls came on my due date, not the scan due date. Did they do an internal u/s? results of those scans depend on the skill of the sonographer and the type of u/s. Internal u/s is a lot more accurate x good luck. Am crossing my fingers for you!!!! xxx

Try not to worry too much hun, although I know it's easier said than done.

According to LMP, I'm due on the 13/12 and 7w2d
According to my IVF dates, I'm due on the 12/12 and 7w3d
According to my THREE scans, I'm due on the 21/12 and 6w2d... if I stick to this date, it means I O'd on the 31st of March. Considering I got a very strong positive HPT on the 4th of April, it doesn't add up.

My scan dates are consistent with the growth of the gest sac / yolk sac / baby (and heartbeat we saw yesterday), so I'm just hanging on to that atm!!

Even the head Dr at the ultrasound place told me yesterday to pick a date and use that... in his words 'it will unlikely be born on that date anyway'.

Thank you very much ladies, you have helped reassure me. It probably doesn't help that I don't get many pregnancy symptoms (didn't get any with my first son either), so I'll just hang out for my next scan, booked for the 10th! Elocin - i had worked out my due date as 13/12 as well, they've told me 25/12!! Right on xmas...

Going by LMP (with a very regular cycle) I would have been due 16th August, since going for my scans, I have been given a new EDD of the 31st August, that's more than two weeks out but everything seems to be going fine. I am now 22w1d pregnant :)

I had an early scan with my first 5 years ago (not a dating scan, but because I was getting cramps and the doctor wanted to make sure I wasn't ectopic, although I now know that it's common to get cramping with your first pregnancy!) I thought I was 7 weeks but the scan showed I was 6 weeks! Funny now I think about it because my little boy was born a week overdue! I have had 3 babies and all of their scans have been out by a week or so. Don't forget that all babies are different and grow at different rates, I've had a few scares myself with scans and the measurements of my babies, but all mine have been born healthy and with no problems at all! =)

i had a dating scan when i was supposed to be 7w2d and it showed 6w3d but then they did the dildo cam and i measured 7w2d what i thort i was so if they didnt do the internal scan i can see how the measurements could of been a bit off. good luck and congrats
