Hi All,
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had a VBA2C after 2 failure to progress labours?
I really did everything for my recent VBAC attempt - had a doula, did chiro every fortnight, read heaps of VABC stories, stayed home as long as possible, rasberryleaf tea tablets etc etc....
Hoping there's still hope for me next time if I'm lucky to have another bub...

Nine times out of ten 'failure to progress' is really a case of 'failure to wait' on the part of the staff. Sometimes our body just needs time to birth a baby and if that doesn't fit in with how long the hospital thinks we need so they call it failure to progress. Have you considered having a homebirth at all? If you managed to stay home in strong labour for your VBAC, then it wouldn't have been a big deal to stay home for all of it. Might be something to think about for next time?
I'd say it's definitely more than possible - every labour is different as is every baby.
And I totally agree with trillian on the "failure to wait".

Id love to have a homebirth but my DH is so against it! Im not pregnant at the moment and dont expect to be for another few years now after my recent VBAC attempt so maybe I can talk him into it over this time with any luck.
I do think it is failure to wait too but it really just knocks your confidence having a failed VBAC attempt - what if I really do have a faulty uterus....you know!
Was hoping someone might have a story to restore my confidence somewhat.
Of course it is! Your body knows what to do I promise, I guess it just needed more time than what the hospital thought? I had FTP with DD1 and a VBAC with DD2.

Theres always hope, will be watching for some postive stories myself :) I have had 2 FTP ceasers but i can honestly say mine were not failure to wait thankfully 2nd one was a vbac attempt.

I am planning our third baby and we plan to get the support of the right people for a VBA2C also.
I had a complicated c/s second time round and not sure exactly what went wrong (the obs at the time was very stressed that i shouldn't be vbac-ing!!) Both my 1st & 2nd labours were very long and then my babies got in awkward possies. I was given all the time I needed, but they just werent coming. I am currently looking for an osteo who knows all about preparing/ alligning pelvises pre-birth cos my pelvis is tilted/twisted and i think that didnt help the situation!
I am taking my notes to Dr Peter Lucas (Wattle House) to get his view on what my options might be. I will then be looking for a hospy (i am not comfortable with HBAC after my failed one last time). So far my research says that Warragul is the best bet (not sure who the obs is there now - anyone?). Then there is Euan Wallace and Monash Medical and lastly Royal Womens (but thats a long shot)

Rach - you sound similar to me with loooong labours (both my bubs were ROA consistantly during pregnancy and them posterior during labour) so I think I might have something similar to you maybe with my uterus!?!?!? I'd love to know what you find out....
